Not alot of new products you can get for £50... why not keep you eye on DJ Bids or keep browsing on ebay

Chauvet double derby. I know a lot of people put them down as simple or budget but i use one as my center piece and it works a treat, filling the whole hall. 600watts (2x300watt bulbs) About £50 new on ebay, when i last checked.

I know few djs who are using 1 par can in the middle of their rig and using it as a wash accross the ceiling, Red or pink looks very effective i must say

If I were you I'd double the budget and buy an NJD datamoon; if it really has to be £50 then the double derby is a good suggestion alternatively one of those 'mushroom (http://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_sqanner_ii_2x230v300w.htm)' effects.

The stormbirds are bright, manic and give a 'side-to-side' effect... for a centrepiece you really want something with a moonflower or a rotational effect but it needs to be bright (250W) otherwise the storms will drown it out.
