Quick opinion please everyone--
Look away now Clive ( Newbie from Lacey Green ;)
I am quoting ( I now find) for a gig at the London Rowing Club, Putney.
Client has sent me several dig photos of the venue and the stairs!
Sounds nice-except its at first floor level--and there appear to be two internal stairs---one set half way---then turn 90 degress and up again:eek:
I think the stage is then at the FAR end of the room.
So how much extra would you charge--bear in mind I have two Peavey PA
cabs with teardrops-- Rob eat your heart out-- Peavey Mixer Amp ( very heavy ) Mini Disc players and a few odd and ends. Lead Box, Radio MIke etc.
No lights or Disco music---I said it would be £50 but they CLAIM I will get some help.
Does £25 sound about right as at the end of the evening volunteers either clear off---or are drunk and drop the kit====cor see that it bounced when I dropped it guv!--no thanks!
Opinions please--I cant get a Roadie--unless anyone is local 26th January,
I still remember the Forest of Arden Hotel, Meriden--my back still hurts:eek:
thanks

Why did you tell them it would be extra? Why couldn't you have just included it in the quote and they wouldn't know any different then.

Because they are looking for quotes---and im not cheap.
As it was Inner London I gave them a quote on the basis that it assumed ground floor access and free parking.
They did not have a definite venue yesterday--they do now.
Now its become apparent there is difficult access I am requoting--
Its another take it or leave it one for me--its a pig of a journey--but if the price is right:D

I am serious....:)
i would say go to the venue if you can get there and decide for yourself.
as darrren said, just include it in the quote.

I charge an extra £20 if access is poor and £40 if it is extracting the urine. Do you really want other people carrying your equipment not covered by insurance or what if they trip and hurt themselves. I always turn down help myself. As Pink says forget the drink give me the money. Take a trolley give yourself extra time and charge em extra. £25 sounds ok to me but I havent seen the venue.
P.S hire a roadie and get them to do the carrying then add on price of roadie.

Charming, on my first day and all that!
Double it at least - You know you are worth it!
But maybe a new cardigan for Putney - it's posh there you know!:ner:

Hi Crazy,
A few years ago I had a gig at the Kings College School Boathouse. It has the same post code as the London Rowing club that you're quoting for, and having checked the maps on both websites, it appears that both buildings are very close - possibly right next to each other.
From what I remember, the buildings along that part of Putney Embankment are all pretty similar. Access isn't too bad. The KSC school boathouse where I worked had one flight of wooden steps up to the first floor where the function was held, although I remember it wasn't a particularly large room.
A word of warning...find out about the times of the tides, as these buildings are literally a few yards from the river...and sometimes the water comes up onto the road! When I was there, the river rose to within an inch or two of the road where I was parked (the embankment itself).
Putney is only 7 or 8 miles from me. I'm currently free on that date & am happy to help, so if you'd like to enlist my services as a roadie, then let me know.
:)
PS - Please note I can only carry one teardrop-handled Peavey at a time though!

Thanks Rob, thats most helpful--I have sent you an email with full supporting piccies of the venue. Room is 57 by 20 feet--
The client seems to have done a reccie with a dig camera to present the shots to their Commiteee Meeting and let me have a look as well---the pictures include the toilets---so they are obviously rather fussy!
Thanks for the offer--Ill have to see if I get the gig --I have no doubt work will come in for you anyway on that date :D
