New Phone Contract

My current contract on my mobile runs out in december so i have been looking around. I was looking at the BlackBerry Curve™ 8310 Smartphone as this would be my buisness mobile. I have chosen this as i can access the internet to check my email for bookings. The network is vodaphone but this is where i get confused.

It says i would have 500 minutes but it also says that local and national calls are 10p per minute. Can anybody shed some light on what this means. I have given the link below so you can check for yourself.

The link doesn't go to any payment plan in particular, but I assume that you get 500 anytime, any network minutes and then after that you would pay 10p per minute for local and national calls?

Thats about right once the free mins are used up it's 10p per min!

I'm on vodaphone watch out with the internet thing though, it ain't cheap!

I checked my e-mails when out in menorca three times and it cost me £51.00!!!
so check out the rates for the net useage before you buy!

Well! it ain't on mine (I have a nokia e61 like blackberry) I think it's something like:
Up to £1 for 15MB in a day. £2 for every additional MB. so a minium of £1 just to log on!

but you have to check it all out they seem to make it as hard to understand as possable to confuse people! :confused:

I know my bill from spain come to over £190 for the 8 days I was there (calls & net) and to be really truthful I didn't use my phone that much!

but the bill was extreme and the free minutes are not credited to me for the time I was out of the country either so if your using you phone abroad people check it out before you go!

and don't forget if you havn't checked your e-mails using the phone for a while it will download all the mails from your account each time you log on costing you even more cash!

I made the mistake of having a bit of a surf when I got my N95 only to find an extra £17 on my bill at the end of the month.

I've done the same thing. Although i beleive most networks offer internet add-ons, with 3 you can pay an extra £5 or so a month and you get pretty much unlimited* internet usage.

*i.e. the bandwidth is capped at a silly high figure.

Tbh, it doesn't interest me, unless you have a PDA I find its too fiddly and small to use the net on a phone.

I haven't got a PDA, but the N95 has quite a good screen and turn by turn sat nav etc and it's quite easy to use the net.

The first one I had did that, amongst other strange things like freezing etc, but the second one has been OK so far. I did upgrade the firmware though and that seems to have sorted the problems out.

i have an n73 and im on my 3rd hand set in 6 months all mechanical failure of some sort not down to me .... first one the screen exploded under the plastic cover as i switched the phone on????

I like the N95 'cos it has a 5mp camera on it and takes dvd quality video, which is useful if you forgot your other cameras.

The battery doesn't last very long though and you'll be forever charging it. The Mp3 player is clever and could be used as a backup for disco if you were desparate!

I just got the new MDA Touch (http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/mobile-phones/price-plans/pay-monthly/webnwalk/18mth-flext-35-webnwalk-5-off-line-rental/t-mobile/mda-touch/overview/?WT.mc_id=ON_QM_S_Google&WT.srch=1) last week. I love that I can write a text, instead of texting in the usual fashion. Lot's of nice business solutions included too (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc). Nice phone!.

im not to keen on that mda phone. its touhc screen, all you have to do it put a bit of presure on the screen and its broken.

I have done some searching on all the networks and this is what i have found, for the BlackBerry Curve™ 8300.

Nearly every network charges per mb for internet usage but with O2 it only costs an extra of £10 a month for unlimited internet access (limit of 200mb). All i would need it for would to keep checking on my email for booking. You get 1000 uk texts and 600 uk minutes with the package i have chosen. Which is now a total of £45 a month.

Is this worth a banter or not to bother at all???
