View Full Version : My Halloween Trick
Right, i think its time to get back at all the kids who trick or treat and just want sweets and dont have any tricks so this is what i have planned for my trick.
This is the plan.
We will get the smoke machine and fill the hallway with lots of smoke. With the smoke a strobe will go of ever second or somthing, not thought about that just yet.
With that im goning to put a pa speaker by the front door ready to play the halloween theme tune. Me or my friend will wear the halloween costume with a life like plastic knife with fake blood on it.
So when they knock on the door, fill the room with smoke, the front door open very slowly, the music starts, plastic knife is shown first and then my friend or me will come out from behind the door and try to scare them away. And if that dont work then either one of us will just follow them till they go away.
Worth a shot i think

Do similar every haloween round here. Use smoke machine with flame effect back projected. Use very good haloween mask and a recording a squeeking door so it plays as I open. Smoke machine fires out of door flame effect through it and then step out of the smoke. Been told by parents that it great they never speak to strangers again. lol even cured one boys stammer for him.

Yep same here but I fill the shop with smoke. I change all the lights in the shop for UV tubes and get a green parcan projecting on the floor so it looks really erie. A small flame in the centre of the shop. Then I aim another powerful smoke machine into the wedged open letterbox (pointing outside), to fill the road outside with smoke. I get a Fiesta light projecting lots of spinning pumpkins through the window onto the forecourt. This year we are going to use a few lasers too.
And for "trick or treat" I put a Snow machine (weather permitting) on the first story roof of the shop and I use a radio remote control to shower them with snow while they wait for their "treats". Then all the kids get a handfull of sweets and just occasionally I nick some sweets from their bags, if I feel they need another trick!
I usually get all the local kids in and most are in fits of laughter, but some cry and they get more sweets.
It's become the talk of the school every halloween...:approve:
My son (who now goes to the school) loves it too!
Oh and yes, I am wearing my full "Scream" costume.... :omg: I'm 6'2" so that always looks scary!

It's not even a British tradition & a lot of pagans see it as an insult to their religion. Can you imagine the uproar if somebody started doing similar at Ramadan or Easter???

OK, let's be British about this.
We should stop Halloween and have a British festival instead.
How about Walpurgis Night (30th April) instead.

Why not, technically it's a religious holiday (to Druids & Wiccans, both indigenous religions to the British Isles), as are All Hallows & All Hallows Eve.
I used to go to a Walpurgis bike rally, run by Sorcerers MCC

It would appear to be an American corruption of Guising
In Scotland and parts of northern England, a similar traition is called guising because of the disguise or costume worn by the children. Like trick-or-treating, it arose as a Halloween practice only in the twentieth century. However there is a significant difference from the way the practice has developed in the United States. In Scotland, the children are only supposed to receive treats if they perform for the households they go to. This normally take the form of singing a song or reciting a joke or a funny poem which the child has memorized before setting out. Occasionally a more talented child may do card tricks, play the mouth organ, or something even more impressive, but most children will earn plenty of treats even with something very simple. However, guising is falling out of favour somewhat, being replaced in some parts of the country with the American form of trick-or-treating. It wasn't even associated with Halloween until the early 1900s in ....... you guessed it, America.
The practice of Guising would have been more associated with All Souls / Hallows Day (the day after Halloween)

My Blue Peter guide for a homemade effect for halloween is............
You will need....
A red or green fuzz light, a pumpkin (big enough to insert fuzz light fully into it) & a smoke machine.
Cut a disc the same diameter as the fuzz light in the base of the pumpkin (you may need mummy or daddy to do this for you as it involves very sharp knives). Scoop out the flesh & carve pumpkin into jack'o'lantern (with mummy or daddy's help again). Place the smoke machine at the rear of the pumpkin (opposite side to the face) & mark where the nozzle is. Cut a hole big enough to fit the smoke machine nozzle in the back of the pumpkin (fetch mum or dad, you need them again). Insert fuzz light & smoke machine. Turn on (you should get something like this http://smilies.vidahost.com/otn/holiday/pain7.gif that you can blast smoke out through (without the waggly bit on top))
WARNING! Can scare the crap out of small children.
