That people who sell second hand lighting on Ebay put the most expensive retail price they can find when they bought it?

How many times have you seen a piece of kit for sale that says "This was £650 when I bought it" and you know they now retail for less than half!

They probably do this so they can get the highest profit for their lighting that they can... So many mugs on the internet so they might aswell try and hope if someone will buy it

The bottom line is that you will sometimes get more for something which you say was bought for £650 than something you say was bought for £350.

Yep I agree - Darren, it's about trying to get as much money as possible for your item! The same principle applies when you market your services, surely?

Because some people don't botther looking. I have sold many an item for more than it can be bought new.
It's like shops selling items at sale price. To be classed as a sale item it only needs to be sold in one of their shops in the previous qtr at the higher price. The buying public can be stupid sometimes.

I agree with what has been said when i owned datamoons i payed £180 each for them which is what i would say on a sale advert as it would be a bit daft to put ...... you can now buy these new for half the 180 quid i payed so dont bid too much will you.

ever watched cash in the attic???? they find peoples old junk and come out with .... thats worth 20 quid or more ..... at most boot sales you could buy it for 50p.

I don't so much mind the "this was £X when I bought it", but I do take offence at the rating of an item as 'rare' when it's only been out of print for about 3 minutes. Rare? Mate, I've got three.

People are out to get as much as they can on ebay so push their luck with descriptions.

I stupidly bought a rope light off ebay that only partly worked.
I had to pay £12-50 to send it back !
I only buy new stuff on ebay now as second stuff is mostly worn out or just junk.
