Ok here is the problem a venue i do regularly has asked for a halloween themed night with party games on a halloween theme but......
the games have to be safe i.e health and safety wise so no bobbing apples due to the water being a slip hazard etc.
Does anyone have any suggestions or variations on a theme for halloween games for adults that i could use.
any suggestions appreciated :)

Could do a 'safe' version of bobbing apples: Just use shredded paper instead of water.

Well i did a haloween party last year at a local pub and i did apple bobbing in a vodka punch that the pub had laid on.
I also had some fun with the costumes... i gave away aload of prizes for who had the best costumes,
I also ran a game of truth and dare, that was quite a laugh too.. Make sure you buy a copy of grandmaster halloween for background music, But other than that you just need to play the normal stuff you would play.

If bobbing apples is done on a table over a carpeted surface surely there cant be any hard done, And how can they call it a halloween party when they are taking all the traditional fun out of it

It has nothing to do with 'PC'ness.... it's to do with the fear of someone suing the venue, which is a very different thing to being 'PC'.
Anyway, whether you agree with it or not, that's the situation that Wayne is in, and he hasn't got a choice, so there's not much point it debating whether or not is should be like that, is there?
Can't we just give the bloke a few suggestions?

yer fair enough, perhaps pc was the wrong word, but if you cant bob apples in water then what kind of games can you do for adults that are concidered safe, maybe apples on a string, or is there a risk there as well.

Was thinking about that 1 myself but if they are banning bobbing apples then is this game going to be out of the window due to mis-use of toilet roll

OK
Nice and simple one.
You need large containers full of vermiculite or similar granules. Into each go a selection of plastic creepy crawlies, mini skeletons, plastic eyes, anything you can find that is gruesome enough. The number of items depends on the size of your teams or the amount of time you want to spend
Relay teams then have to find them (as any normal lucky dip). Fastest team wins. For kids just collect, but adults need to collect in a given order. If it takes too long, set a time limit e.g. 5 mins and the winners are the ones with the most finds.
Very simple, no water and easy to clear up after.

got a few ideas out of that , i agree the banning of bobbing apples is a pain in the rear but the venue dictates what they want :)

try hanging apples from truss or ceiling or whatever you can, cover them in golden syrup with red food dye ( makes em look like they are covered in blood and also makes em really difficult to catch ) blindfold the punters and tie there arms behind there back. they then have to catch the apples in their mouths, bit of audience participation to as they can shout instructions / encouragement

Game 1
Fill a small/medium sized bowl with flour and tamp down with a saucer, then tip it over onto a tray (like building a sandcastle). Place a smartie on the top. Each player then has to cut a slice of 'the cake' without the smartie falling off.
Game 2
Fill food bags with horrible things ie. small hardboiled eggs covered in olive oil = eyeballs, cold tinned spaghetti = brains, lambs liver = errr liver!, etc etc. The aim of the game is for the players to guess what each food bag is. The food bags need to be covered so they can't see what's really in them.
Game 3
Three plates with sweets on top of 1) golden syrup 2) flour and 3) hundreds and thousands. They have to get a sweet off the plate with their hands behind their backs.
Game 4
Ring donughts tied up onto a rope suspended across something (or off a truss?). Hand behind their backs they have to eat a ring donught.
Game 5
Variation on the exotic food idea, tell them it's snake, but it's really chicken, faggots are brains, small soft boiled eggs are eyeballs etc etc, see who will eat the most offensive / disgusting food that you can pretend your thinking of.
Errr, that's all i can think of!

Isn't that known as a Lindisfarne sandwich?
I'm sure I had something similar in a pub there once.
