monitors for video

Are there any on the market that would be capable of being modified to hang from a truss, and what size would be the norm. I don't want to go too large as it would be awkward transporting them.

If you are any good at welding you could make your own by welding clamps to the backplates normally used for wall mounting monitors or LCD tvs

How I did mine...

Then get a length of steel 1" angle from B+Q and an assortment of M4/M5 cheese or hex-head short bolts, nuts and washers. The only tools you'll need are a couple of drills, a hacksaw, screwdriver, pair of pliers.

Drill holes for the bolts on one side of the 'L' and attach to the bracket. Drill larger holes in the top of the 'L' to attach clamps. Job done.

Total cost with brackets about £50 for two brackets that you can then angle down to the audience. Flat wall-mount ones are no use as the monitors will be at the wrong angle.

Why would it affect the warranty your not doing anything to the monitor?

OK so excuse the abysmal drawing (not my strong point!) but hope these 2 pics will explain all. Monitors are buried in the van at the mo and I won't have time to go taking pics today.

With the bracketry described still attached my TFT panels still fit in their original shipping cartons (minus the polystyrene but plus some folded-up bubblewrap).

Also added a couple of (not so good!) rig shots so you can see why I went for the brackets that you can tilt rather than the fixed ones.

To answer Paul's question I currently use 20" widescreen TFTs. Anywhere that needs bigger than that I use one or two projectors instead/as well as.

Thank you for your enquiry regarding licensing requirements for the Video mobile disco business that you are proposing to commence.
I understand that you will be buying videos from Mixmash.
I would confirm that you will still require a licence from VPL to authorise you to use these videos in public.

I would confirm that the annual licence fee is £184.29 plus VAT.

If you intend to go ahead with your business, please advise us accordingly and we will send you a quote for licence fees.

Yes - most of it comes apart with allen keys.

Yours sincerelyI haven't looked into it personally, but I should imagine that it's probably the same as the PPL licence in that it's only required if playing 'in public' - ie will not be required for weddings, birthdays, etc.

I'm not sure without looking at it. The best person to speak to is Tophouse (Dion) on MDJF, as he uses his on his truss.

its one of these but with everything removed apart from the end bits

Then a clamp attached where the bar is attatching.

they work really well on the trussing if its high enough as you can tilt them down so the crowd slightly look up at them while dancing away.
