Hey chaps,
Just a thought.
If you had for instance 4 dmx scanners and a bank of regular lamp par cans connected to a dmx dimmer. Could you run them from the same desk????

I have myself a chauvet remote mains power switching device (thingy) that most of you have similar, you can just turn the mains on and off for 8 effects on the gantry controlled by a rack mounted pannel on your lighting rack.

I suppose i mean, can you have simultaneous scenes in a desk that can be changed seperately. So that you could leave them all running and switch between lighting effect using the mains controller. SO that you could have the par running through scenes and just swich the scaners on and off as and when. Or do you do this through the desk its self and just leave the mains on all the time.

Its just that i have never used a intelligent lighting desk before, just a simple fixture analogue (dmx) desk.

If they're all on a DMX desk, then there would be no need to also use a mains switching thingamybob. You'd just progam chases, whereby all the scans would be on blackout, whilst the PARs did their thing.. and vice versa.

Or you can use sub-masters, where each set of lights can be running different programs at the same time. Although you'd need either a much more expensive desk, or a PC->DMX system like freestyler to do this.

ok. So on a regular dmx desk you can't hAVE scanns for instance that you switch between a fast and slow and medium chase, while pars were doing several different chases all simultaneously but detatched from eachother.

On cheapy desks, you can only run one FX at a time.

But if you programmed how you wanted the scans and the pars in then it would work. But you couldnt say have fast par can chase FX on whilst having another scan FX on at the same time :)
