Help With Prolight Quick Clamps

Hi All,
Call me a little bit thick but need some help with these quick clamps.. I have just purchased 2 of the clamps to try out but can anyone tell me which part attaches to the bar and other to the light, i've spoken to the shop and they were not really helpfull. The way I think but may be wrong is the wing nut and bolt goes on the rig and the plastic part goes on the light,, is this right ? ? ? ;)

You can do it either way round.

Have you got some M10 bolts for them?

Nope, all i've got is just what came in the box. The nut with the metal clip bit on what the wing nut attached to and one other nut.

That's what you need them - M10 bolts.

Go to B&Q and get some and then come back and post.

Got some 10 mil bolts from my wifes Dad now, what do I do next m8

The way I used mine was to bolt the larger part to your T- Bar with your M10 Bolts. Attach the small "male" piece to your lighting effect. Good little units for hanging lighter pieces of kit , I used mine for data-moons and they did ok , but I wouldn't chance then for something as heavy as this without a safety wire attached.

Quick question, are the prolight quick clamps suitable for use with the ultimate mobile rig. I've looked at pictures of the quick clamp and can't work out how it attaches to the rig.

I've got my rig setup in the kitchen now cause I'm wireing all cables to be left on the rig all the time, even when packed down to aid quicker setup and the quick clamps would help as well.

Whatever you're using you should be using a safety bond too. I do mine the other way round - the smaller piece goes on the bar and larger part to the effect. (as shown)

Sorted my quick clamps out, used them last night what a difference.. Instead struggling turning and turning the g clamp it takes about 10 secs to clip them on and attach your safety cable

So have prolight definitely sorted out the problems with these now (ie replaced the plastic bit that was failing with metal)?

If they're safe now, might put some on the shopping list :)

Yes, they are metal now. It was nice of Prolight to make an announcement and send me an apology, wasn't it. ;)

I Have tried all methods of attaching lights to round bars or trussing and definitely the best method is a coupler. Fits in seconds and very safe and if you buy from Thommann just as cheap as the prolight clamps. Never had square bars so probably prolight clamps would be best for these.

The question was aimed at me as I had problems with the other ones failing and rather a large argument with the MD of Prolight.

Me too, eventually got mine replaced. the spring loaded parts are still plastic tho and ive had one of them break on me as well.
