Hi there!
Ken C from Ireland here. I've been reading the MDD forums for nearly a year now, and decided it was time to join! I think its a great idea, and a great resource for people who might have questions or problems.
A bit about me.
My names Ken. I'm from limerick in Ireland, which i hope isnt a problem:)
Im 21, and have been a DJ for 5 years. I also trained as a sound engineer while at school, and do live shows/bands/musicals on a regular basis. I dj mainly as a mobile disco, doing 21'st, weddings, parties ect. The djing took a bit of a back seat recently due to my full time job, but thats gone now so im all free again!
About my gear.
I know people here like to compare gear, so i'l tell you about mine. Laughing, pointing, and general making fun will be allowed! At the moment for my mobile im using 2 JBL speakers (the ones with 2 15" cones and one tweeter) and one 2000w amp. I find the big speakers eliminate the need for a seperate bass bin in most venues, but i bring the other rig for bigger ones. With this, i use a soundcraft spirit club 12ch mixer, numark twin cd drives, and my lappy running OTS audio. For live sound, concerts, small shows ECT, I use my EV system. Thats the eliminator series bins and cabs, 32 ch mixing desk, and 2x crown 1200 amps. And then all the rest, mics, multi-core ect...
With lighting, I like to keep it simple. I have 2 martin moving heads, the powerfull ones, 16 LCD par cans, and a dmx comtrol for the lot. It might seem small, but i think its enough. I throw in a few datascans and voyagers when i need more flashing lights! I have a small fogger aswell, to catch the beams of the moving heads.
Thats about it for now. My daughter (14 mths) has taken a liking to plugging in and out phono and jack leads from my mixer, and broke the head off inside one of the master outs. I have to go and strip the whole bloody thing to get it out!
Talk later,
Ken.
