I've been posting a bit on another forum, but it seems to be broken at the moment and I missed my daily "fix"
I used to DJ a bit in the good old / bad old days of vinyl, and I have come back after a long break.
I bought a Numark CD Mix 1 which is the dog's danglies compared to the old rubbish I used to use... and even possible to lift up with one arm! Yet all the new DJs are calling it "bedroom kit"... so goodness knows what the top notch kit is like these days.
I've got a box of 150 CDs which I struggle to lift... many are double CDs, and most tracks are duplicated. I don't look for a particular disc like I used to on vinyl... I pull out half a dozed CDs of the genre I am looking for, then choose tracks that catch my eye.
I also do Karaoke, and recently bought a Numark KMX-02 which is way easier to use than the old machine I had.
I've also got an iDJ so I can connect 2 iPods which have every CD burnt to it... listed alphabetically... if I need to find a particular track... but I like the danger of choosing tracks "on the fly" from CDs... I often end up playing a track I haven't played for a while and think "I forgot how good that was"...
The iDJ is also very useful in the dark as the buttons are backlit, and it goes with my "boy scout" tradition of being prepared with a spare.
I use two amps... 2x200w into 2x 10" cabs for small venues, and 2x90w into 2x 8" cabs for very small venues... or can use both kits slaved together for medium venues.
Lighting is 4x Soundlab Vasto 250w and 4x Mojo SpinMaster 250w, and a few PAR cans for karaoke.
Treat me gently, and I might even stick around when the other forum is fixed.........
