par 16's, pinspots

Hi all,
Was just wondering, does anyone use par 16's, or any similar pinspots? I was looking to set up a small pin spot system for lighting small objects, but how is it done?
Do you need to get a special controller, or does one even exist? I know its probably easier to use 56 or 64's, but i really need them small!
Any help would be appreciated.

The Par 16 (birdie) requires a transformer to run. How about the Par 36, are they too big?

thanks for all the replies. The people running the event did ask for the smallest ones possible, they want them to look "cute". I dunno about that!
Jamie, when you say a transformer is needed, is that one per can, or would it be like a power pack for a few of them together? Its going to get very expensive if a controller is needed 1:1!

if it has a transformer in it you need an indictive load controller! such as a pulsar zero 3000/4000, but most controllers made (powered of course) will be indictive load these days, #
but what you do have to remember is with transformered lighting you can't use quiet so much lighting on the controller as normal lighting i,e 4000 watts of indictive load is equal to 3000 watts of normal lighting (or something like that) hope this helps!

I think i am sure you can now get a Par 16 with a mains GU10 but i may be wrong.ps i have just checked yes you can .

I use gu10 fittings on my crossbeams. Just as bright as a pinspot and already mains voltage so no transformer required. I used led bulbs on mine and they are fine. Make a very nice glow for ambient lighting.

Errrrm, you can buy the 240v version which takes a GU10 50w or 75w lamp :)

I've got a few, they make great "DJ lights" without using a desk lamp or something else nasty.

I think I suggested it to Tony (Penmare) and he did it. Theres no looking back once you scrap the desk lamps. Looking to install about 10 pointing down on a DJ booth in the club I light jock in.
