Hi Guys,
As next thursday is my partners 25th birthday I thought i'd look for something different to do so we are.
Unbeknown to her (unless she reads the forum before we go!) we are spending the night at Derby Gaol. http://www.derbygaol.com supposedly one of the most haunted places in Britain.
Now i'm a total non believer but Emma is well into "most haunted" and all that sort of stuff.
It starts at 9pm and finishes at 4am and there's Sayences(knew i wouldn't be able to spell it!) , table tipping and vigil in the condemened mans cell!
So i'll let you know how it goes tommorrow.
Anyone been there before?

Well , we made it back safely from our trip to the otherside!
Real spooky actually as im am (was) a non believer. Got down there at 9 and the place is well strange, you get a cold feeling as you walk in. All sat round tables in what used to be the "association room" and yes you guessed it they turned out the lights and came and put a candle on your table , this freaked a couple of people!
After a brief bit of history and a brief on what may or may not happen we moved to the first thing.
set up in the coridor was a kinda tray suspended from the ceiling and you were invited to place your fingers on the edge (about 8 people) and the medium did thier stuff and within a few minutes it was going all over the place. But I was still very "yea, wotever, not convinced"
So then it was Ouigia (weegee) board time ,now that was spooky. The spirit of the Jailer came through and strarted to answer questions , I had a go on this and the pointer thing was moving on it''s own!! Starting now to get slightly more convinced.
I wont go too much into what happened etc as it may spoil it for you if you want to go (Dragonfly need not apply!)
But the thing that made me think there is something out there was the Table tipping. If you've not seen this a group of about 6 people stand with one hand on a waist high table (like bar stool size) and the idea is the table tips and actually moves in answer to questions posed......and it did!
At one point I received a "visit" from my Nan who's been gone a good 12 years now. When I asked questions that only family members would have known it actually moved the table across the room. I say room , it was the condemed mans cell!
There was visits from various other spirits as well including people that had been hanged there and , kids that had lived in the Gaol with their mums!!!
It finished at 4am and thankfully only took 25 mins to get home.
All in all a "different" experience and it goes to show that there may well be something beyond afterall!

Sounds interesting, although they'd have to do an awful lot to convince me I'm afraid.
