I've just noticed something.
About a third of this forum's members have never made a single post!
That equates to about 450 people.
I wonder why?
Isn't it a bit like joining a gym & never going along?

Because some people just like to read and gain knowledge and ideas that way.
This is why we try and get rid of too many off topic posts and rubbish, so that people don't have to trawl through pages and pages to find the answer they're looking for. :)

So do you have to be a member to be able to read the forum?
I have an idea that I was able to read it before joining, but I could be completely wrong there...it might have been the other way round!

It is a public forum (google a name, like 'rob1963', and it will appear in the results), so why register, if you only want to read??
Is there something you need to register in order to receive (used to be the case for the arcade)?

That's my exact point, Beerfunk.
I know many people just want to read the content & don't want to post, but if you can read the forum without registering, why have so many people registered & then not made any posts?

Because people like you intimidate them with your knowledge, grasp of fundamentals, general confidence, and total assurance. How on earth do you expect them to come on here and face public ridicule for being so lacking compared to such as you?  :D
PS. If you believe that, you can knit fog!!:p :p

Although it is a public forum, we are in the minority in that: most of the other forums insist that someone registers to be able to see the threads, so I suppose there is a bit of 'expectation' from people. However, I much prefer the way we operate with everything being open to everyone..... when they can read it all and see how great it is, I think people are more inclined to join in ;) :D
However, for those members who read and do not post, there is one thing they can do that they can't as a 'Guest': they can subscribe to topics so that if a topic comes up that they're interested in, they can subscribe to it and be notified of new posts on that thread.
