Has any one had any experience of the Acme Spot Knight moving heads? Either the ELC or discharge bulb type!?
I'm looking to up grade to moving heads (or scanners) and these are the right kind of price but only if they are any good:cool: !

The spot knights are exactly the same as the Imove and stairville MV250H (http://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_mv250h_moving_head_elc.htm) moving heads....I believe the spot knights have a horrible blue plastic casing though?.
Quite a few of us use the Imove and stairville (same lights different badge). For what's a budget light in the moving head market, they are suprisingly good and sturdy units. I've had nothing but favourable comments from guests when I use them.

Just keeping my options open:cowboy: - if i can find a good second hand set of robe/ martins for the same price as the Acme/ Starvilles i will:) I've bought inferior cheaper brands before and they have'nt always lasted the lifetime i'd like:bang: - wereas the more expensive brands keep going and makes you wonder if it was worth the cheap experimentation in the first place, lol:rolleyes:
So we all recommend what you are asking about and you decide to look at something else......
i think it is perfectly within reason for him to look at something else. it is his money!
Martin 250s are pretty good and can be picked up for about £1250 - 500 (a pair). on ebay if you get the right time (sometimes none are listed).
Also sometimes other bargains come up like mac 500s / 600s. worth looking.

I for one find it a little impolite to ask about a specific piece of kit, and having more than one reply all saying how good it is, to then say " well I'll look for something else secondhand then". It implies that the advice given is of no consequence.

Ok so because you have given him the above advice he should go and buy them?
People change their minds all the time!! Least he is being honest and telling us what he is thinking about.. and with a perfectly valid reason

Exactly.
Exactly.
what do you expect him to do then? Just go and buy these because you said they were good? Or go and start a new thread about nearly the same thing?

Stop being so argumentative will you.
He asked for opinions and nearly everyone said the Imoves were great for the money and then he said he would go and look at something else. If you don't want or value peoples opinions, then don't start a thread.
Okey. But i was just a bit shocked by your response.
I mean he recognised your opinion and then said he 'may' look at other brand too.. the normal when you research lights.. it doesn't mean he hasn't taken on your good words for the Imoves.
Sorry to be argumentative.

Sorry to be pedantic, but he isn't telling us what he is thinking about. Now if he original question had been " Secondhand quality or Low price brand new. Discuss with examples" then I have no problem. It has happened on here more than once where someone asks about a particular manufacturer/bit of kit
and having received glowing praise for it, then says " I'll get something else. " If he had been told " Avoid it like the plague" I could understand/accept it. Politeness costs nothing!
Personally.. i might ask about a light... but then after doing research into it and its comperitors.... like you should when investing a large slab of money... i might then change my mind and go for what i see as the better option... which will give me a better light show etc.
.... even though others love the other ones -
hence why, a while ago, i ended up with 15 chn Pilot 250s instead of IMoves... and I am very pleased I made that decission - and I am not going to worry that some people are dissapointed that i didn't buy the other ones.. just because they said they were good.

I personally expect him to start the correct thread in the first place! Tell us the options! If i went onto a car forum and asked for views on a Skoda, and everyone said it was great value for the money, highly recommended, so I then said " I think I'll buy a Rolls Royce, cos they last longer" . Same thing, impolite behaviour, and not asking the right question first, I shortly shall be asking for advice on Cordless Mics, and I will try very hard to give the maximum amount of information to people, so they can give GOOD HELPFUL WELL INFORMED VIEWS AND ADVICE, which I can then TAKE ON BOARD!:bang:
right ok then.
Maybe.. just maybe... he had not thought of any other lights before posting..?
This is all a bit odd..

Well i feel i must appologise to you all therefore if you felt i misslead any of you - i was mearly gauging an opinion of the Knight Spots and to all who have expressed there positive remarks towards them i thank you and they HAVE been taken on board.
If i have been rude or unpolite or mocking or unfriendly in any way i do appologies to you! However like i said i was just asking an opinion on one product in a long line of ones i was considering. I didnt want to bore you all with my entire dilema of what manufacturer, discharge/ halogen, scanner/ moving head, ease of transport/ cases and all the other factors that im sure we're all aware of when it comes to buying a new set of lights.
Once again hope no loves lost:D!!!

Whether you do or don't have is not the point. It is simply that some of us do!;)
