dmx lighting

hi everyone
could anyone assist me in learning about dmx , i don't recall it being around when i run my last disco, ( if it was it was probably out of reach - financialy speaking ) i realy need to catch up with today's light show technology. details on what's available,how it's controlled / programmed,connections & cost. kindest regards

if you just strting and thinking of buyin DMX items then all you really want is basicially a four channel light (2) and a 8 channel controller. www.thomann.de/

totally agreeWhilst I agree with you, it is a bit serious to accuse someone of plagiarism (In fact, there are plenty of cases in the court for less!)

gjdjdisco: I have called up a copy of the Wikipedia article as it appeared at the time that Will's DMX article first appeared on this forum and I have ha a quick look at it, and Steve has also looked at them both, and neither of us can find a similarity between the two (other than the subject matter, of course)

It really isn't on to accuse someone of something like this unless you are sure. You have gone from saying that Will copied the article completely, to saying that he's taken out quite a few words (what? like DMX? :rolleyes: )

In a different situation saying / writing something like you have could end up with you being accused of slander / libel

Thanks Angela. When I first read how this topic was going, I felt sick, it even had me doubting myself.

I have just read my article, and I've also read part of the wikipedia resource, and none of it lines up...in the slightest. If you had bothered to read my article, you'd see that actually it's all cobbled together and jumps around all over the shop.

I'm going to accuse you of something Nathan, but it's too rude for the public forum. The difference between my acusation and yours is mine is correct, your accusation against me is a load of old bull.

oo now i wonder where you got that 'dipswitch cheat' from..
I don't understand why he would 'really want' a 4 channel light? That could be a lot of different units from led par cans, colour mixers, scanners etc. and we don't even (unless i havnt seen the post) know what he wants yet :rolleyes:

Anyway.. back to the point of my post.
If you wish to add me on msn i may be able to explain a few bits of dmx to you and answer questions to the best of my knowledge (which isn't that great but it's a start?!:) )
