Hi all,
just had my NYE booking confirmed as an "Oscars night" at the Time bar in Sleaford , Lincs.
Got a few ideas of my own like movie themes as the initial background music on arrival etc
Anyone throw me some more ideas?
The venue are decorating the place themselves so at least I dont have to worry about that side of things.

I would say go for music from the musicals, you know things like 'There's no business like show business' 'There ain't nothing like a dame' 'Good morning'
We went to an oscar's night the night before my niece's wedding and that was what was playing there and it went down a treat.

Would most musicals have more a Broadway or Westend connotation, though?
Given the number of Movie theme compilations it shouldn'rt be too hard to pull together a decent play list of well-known movie themes/love themes etc.
For the early part of the evening songs like 'Unchained Melody' and 'What a Wonderful World', for example, were both prominently used in major movies, you can use spoken word snippets from 'Good Morning, Vietnam', 'American Graffiti', 'Pulp Fiction' and 'Reservoir Dogs' as they are on the soundtracks - Nancy Sinatra's version of 'Hooray for Hollywood' is definitely on iTunes, too, by the way.

if you've access to a screen/projector, have a look at Phil Bearman's Hollywood visuals, I use them all the time http://www.philbearman.co.uk/themes.htm
