Hi there.

Iv recently installed iTunes and have a little problem. I change the Import from AAC encoder to MP3 encoder, change the kbps setting to 192kbps and select desktop as my iTunes Music Folder Location. I then go into Parental Controls and lock the lock. Now when I want to rip my CD, I look at my desktop to find no songs! So then again I go back to check my settings that I changed and they've changed back to what they were originally even though I locked the lock in parental controls :bang:

Question is how do I successfully export MP3's to my desktop in MP3 format?

Not answering your question, sorry, but why would you rip to your desk-top?

Items on the desktop sit in RAM and slow down your machine, you should only have shortcuts (which are tiny files) on the desktop.

For me, the desktop is an easy reference as to where the files are stored.

This is how i do it. I rip the cd's to the desktop as mp3 then move them into the external hard drive.

Exactly, thats what I intend to do, store MP3's on my desktop and once I transfer the MP3's to my external hard disc then I can clear the MP3's off my desktop.

I'v got plenty of ram, I dont think a few MP3's is going to slow my computer down considerably :D

Err... desktop is a folder inside "c:\documents & settings\<username>", unless it's a roaming profile on a network, then it sits on the server and makes logons take forever!

Still trying to solve this little mystery, mmmm. Can anyone suggest any more user friendly software that will enable me to rip MP3 songs from my original CD's and further more add ID tags? So far Iv used Audio Grabber and that failed on quite a number of my compilations and also iTunes. Is there any other programmes out there?

Mendozza.. what i don't get is... what is so much harder to click on my documents -> my music -> ituens (or whereever it stores it on your pc) and leaving this file open.. than having them all on your desktop ?! :confused:

yer.. i do.. but didn't you want to re-route it to your external hard drive? not your desktop?

well if your moving them that makes a bit more sense.
but to just play them from there?!

Anyway.. itunes works fine for me on all 3 of my pcs i run it on... so i don't see why it wont work for you... try re-installing it to the latest version?!

My intentions are to store MP3's onto desktop and later transfering to my external hard disc.

Just to let you know that Iv un-installed and reinstalled the latest version and still no luck. Surly there's another programme or 2 out there that will rip MP3's and include ID tags from my original CD?

I used iTunes to rip my Cds.

I changed to format to MP3, and the bit rate to 256, but I had no problems with the default setting restoring themselves.
