:confused: I'm afraid I'm non the wiser. What's the table actually showing?
What most people want to know is a comparison between say a 300W PAR56 and an LED equivalent.

So is it saying that a 1w LED is equivalent to a 60w incandescent?
So a 300w halogen (PAR56) would be equivalent to 5w of LED?
Many LED lighting suppliers quote in no of LED's rather than watts.
A 300w halogen gelled to blue will not be comparable to a LED PAR set to blue, as the halogen has the same 300w light source, but the LED fixture is only outputting around 1/3rd of it's light source.

All very confusing!!!!

I will go through it.all the leds listed are 1 watt and the table shows there luminous output green being the best ,as for pars they come under incandescent the one shown is 60watts so you could x the figures by 5 to get the output of a par 56 . when buying leds its not how many the fixture contains but what wattage, leds at this present time are most common in wash and diffuse applications and will soon be bright enough for spot and imaging optics but things are moving so fast we all need to get our head round this new technology as with pending legislation in many countries to ban incandescent lamps in the near future so its goodbye to the par lamps. its the led that we will all be using in the future ,and i thought this table might be a taster as you would not go and buy lamps today if you had no idea what they could achieve.

There is a thread on another forum, (not disco) with a guy who did a proper comparision between a Par GE Lamp and *i think* a stairville LED par 56.

As I would breach a thousand rules in the book, (lol) I'll give you a hint in where to look...

One red LED will be less bright that a single Green LED. Thats why Red lasers are a higher mW than a green one and the red ones are less bright.

Sorry but time flys there are moving heads on the market with 20w leds as bright as a 575 discharge lamp can you afford them is another matter.

Leds are more than bright enough already on a lot of lighting Rob.

How bright are LED's? pretty bright. see here (http://www.rotodisco.co.uk/lights2.jpg)

not a good photo, but the bright central light is the new impossibled. Certainly comparable to a 250W datamoon, although obviously a different sort of show.

I find that certain colour's, especially blue appear brighter on an LED can than a standard par. However, a conventional par can is actually still more efficient.

Look at the table i posted Jamie i know you are switched on re lighting matters by your previous posts blue is the worst colour for brightness when it comes to leds . Green is the best.

Put simply,

If I had a standard 100w lamp, how many watts of LED's would I need to get the same brightness.

It's not something which you can give a direct answer for, unless you specify the exact conditions. For example, at a distance of X metres from the observer, how many LEDs are used to give the combined effect, the amount of ambient light already in the room...
