Unfortunatly, I dont like christmas, not because I am bah humbug its because I am modern ..

I find it extreamly annoying and inconvenent.

You are in the house and want to nip to the shop/go for a beer, basically anything that doesn't involve being in the house watching Mary Poppins.

You get in the car to go anywhere, and every radio station is over playing "I'm driving home for christmas" Ahhhhhhhhhhh

Not to mention buying pointless presents for people just because you know that they are going to get somthing for you.

If I see something for my partner that she would like or something that I would give to a mate, I buy it there and then why wait till december??

Last year I spent christmas/new year in Florida. Now they can enjoy the christmas spirit bigger and better than we do yet it it is just a usual working day ..

In actual fact, Christmas brings out the worst in people, namely two of the 'seven deadly sins'...

Gluttony - an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.
Greed - the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual.

We do......IMO....it's the run up to the big dayit self, it's good for the soul.....
Going the night before....i'm not a deeply religious guy far from it but the kids like it and we go as a family.

We have 9 around the table this year......going to be complete chaos.....

That is my point. I work christmas in my day job so i get the holidays back to take when I want.

It is just like me turning around and saying that I cant work because it is christmas. "I am closed for the holidays". (Why not, everyone else seems too!)

All trades suffer, car sales, estate agents etc. over christmas. Because people don't want to part with cash in the christmas period.

Being "modern" refers to the fact that not everybody wants to sit round the table with a turkey, pulling crackers etc... Its got nothing to do with being "trendy." As I have felt the same way for years!

I excluded christmas parties from this as it was part of the point I was making.

Quiter on the private parties front 18ths/21st weddings etc.

Disco wise im not more or less busy than any other month during december, as I can "almost" get work for every fri/sat of the year either in a pub/club or private do.
