Spot light advice

Hi All , am thinking of incorporating a couple of mirror balls on my rig. I'm looking for a colour-changing dmx spotlight for the balls. Have thought about a couple of moving heads but I'm not sure if these can be focused like a dedicated pin spot and of course they are pricey. I'm sure there is something out there that will do the job , any advice greatly appreciated.

Have a search round the forum. I have used moving heads on mirror balls and Dragonfly has been using Robocolours and there have been several threads on the subject recently.

on the forum the things we use varies..
I think Tony uses followspots.. some people use par 36s.. and some people like Darren and myself use moving heads.

Generally I don't find that moving heads like a 250 spot are an issue.. especially when they have controllable focus. I use two p250s... not sure what the imoves are like though.

I tend to put mirrorballs on tripods in corners rather than on the rig.

I light them either with moving heads from the rig, or if too far/obstructed view I'll use a couple of PAR36's per ball on a T-bar on a second tripod.

Hi depends on how far you need to throw the light as you need to keep the beam tight ,if you want a fixed colour source you can use any small theatre profile they will be able to focus, if you want a small bright dmx colour changer then have a look at Mojo Colour Changer MOC-150 NSD 14 COLOURS+OPEN very bright HTI-150 lamp and very light in weight.

A mirrorball has always looked classy IMO and gives off a great effect. Spotboxes, screens and ropelights aren't classy. ;)
