ultimax or prolight

would the ultimax deck stand be a quicker set up time than the prolight
and do you think it could cope with 6 irock 5 hid effects a firecracker strobe and a 100mw green laser

You've linked to two completely different products :confused:

The first is a winch stand for lighting, the other is an all-in-one deck and lighting stand, so you can't really say which of these is quicker, can you? (ie it's not a case of 'either' 'or', is it?)

What do you use as a deck stand now?

Having owned and used both those products I will give you my opinion.

The Ultimax winch and wheels will be slightly quicker to set up than the truss and a deck stand. I found that truss difficult to wind up even with one 2m piece on the winches. The Ultimax can be wound up with one person doing both winches at the same time and not running from one end to the other.

The winch and wheels stand hold 80Kg altogether, with a maximum of 50Kg on the dual bars. Having said that, the manufacturers told me they can hold a lot more than that, but the safety rating is 50Kg. I've seen Andy Tain (Mr Ultimax) swing on the bar and he's a lot more than 50Kg (so he tells me!)

The winches on the Ultimax have a CE safety mark and are rock solid going up and also coming down. They are the same winches that Powerdrive use on some of their winch stands.

The wheels on the base have also been improved and the brakes and castors are now made from metal and don't detatch unlike the older ones.

The Ultimax stands can also be added to with any number of shelves, curtains, and add ons and they do hold stock of most accessories.

It is a lot of money, but you have to decide whether it's worth it to you.

I've had a number of weddings this year where they've over run and I built the stand outside the venue, decks, power, lights and cloth and then just wheeled in and set the speakers up. It saved a lot of time, I can tell you.

The Prolight winch stand is fairly good value, but I still didn't trust the winches completely on them as the build quality is much better on the Ultimax.

i do like the ultimas stands but the weight it can hold puts me off then i saw this http://www.jpleisure.co.uk/item3340.htm looks good and one stand will hold 100kg and it packs down to a nice size

And are £425 each and weigh 25Kg.

They aren't made for your average 'mobile disco' I wouldn't have thought.

You'd seriously consider paying out £850 for 2 winch stands when you are using a £200 Prolight one currently?

As with others, I'm voting for Ultimax, the Prolight one says it'll hold up tp 100kg, but in store we've had it set up with only 4 Dynamo's on, 2 Scimitar's and a smoke machine, and would not want to put anything else on it, plus wound up to a decent height, it does start to wobble!

the ultimax stand at jp leisure is 1.7m at £389 does anyone know where i can get a 1.2m version at that price or less??? shot in the dark but thought id ask the question as i may have had a glimmer of hope on the funding side of things.

I currently use the 4foot Giraffe stand,Its ok but if i had the chance again i would pay the extra and go for the ULTIMAX STAND !!!!!!!!!

Its so much better more sturdy and overall better build quality.

My advice would be to get them made. If you speak to a metal worker, it shouldn't be too dear. Failing that, have a word with me, I'm sure something can be arranged.

Ultimax wheel and winch stand 1.2m dual over head bar ultimax shelfs and the 0.6m middle bits to make the stand nice and small if need be.Best buy this year for me.

As for me, Ultimax every time. I've had a number of them, and they are the best in the business. Replacement parts are easy to obtain if required.
