Good Gig, Bad Gig.

What an awsome gig I had last night.

It was a wedding for 2 police officers so you can guess that 90% of the 200 guests were police too.

Live band also playing which was 3 young lads and they were brilliant, Anyway got the first dance out of the way which was islands in the stream, Then onto the father and daughter dance which was Daddy`s home by Jermaine Stewart, The guests joined in after 30 seconds then the dance floor cleared so I went into my first set and the toastmaster (about 60 years old) jumped up on the dancefloor and just started to boogie on down, The dance floor from then was packed solid all night.

ahh mine was Awful for me, however they enjoyed.

Only 35 people there in a room that holds 150.

12 of them were kids that were dropped off by their parents at the start - their parents never returned until the end to pick them up!?!?

Boring night, everyone was just chatting so I kept it low key, wound it right down from 11 - 12 with some love songs, got the floor full and guess what - oh yes - no one want to go home now - all want to dance!!!!

I gave them an extra 18 mins of a few party dances and singalongs, had a thank you at the end.

Not necessarily - some police don't like to mix socially I was told (by one)!

I did a show for prison staff once, there was lots of stuff I couldn't do as they had to act in an inappropriate way.

Joint 13th Birthday, 40 guests, village hall, 2 hours, chart music.

First of all I will say that I have raging toothache at the moment and am on antis so this may be cloudng my judgement but I found it all a bit annoying, 13 year old girls whooping and shreaking all the time

I have managed to perfect my 'quick setup' though' by using the MDD clone EFX500 (or Wizard if you wish) on a tripod. This was very room filling and I am going for 2 units this friday (woohoo!!!)... I also dropped some Equinox Atria (Gobo Pattern Lasers) on the speaker tops (these were set higher on a 2ft stage), one pointed at the ceiling and the other straight down the room. A couple of megabars were used for backlighting.

Total setup time inc tidying 30mins.
Take down time 20mins.

So all in all, a very easy gig, albeit slightly annoying ... oh yeah and I had to play, Bieber and Rebecca Black ... i haven't recovered yet!!! :D

Last night was a grat gig, 50th birthday in social club. &.30pm start with standard rig+ 2 mood lights on floor + 2 more on gantry. Too soon to add pics, maybe when I get up.
Hog roast at 8.30 and dancing continuously from 9.30 until midnight. Very wide range of music from 50's R&R to Black eyed Peas andmany good comments at the endOver 200 pics taken and I will see if I can get some on here tomorrow.G'Night.

good gig mind you i have no others to compare, took me an hour to set up and 45 mins to pack down the staff at the football club were amazed that it was my first gig, i was situated yards from the smoke detector and sound limiter used smoke without problems and didn't hit the red on the limiter the environmental health were there monitoring it at one stage.

Bad gig stand bag has ripped at the seams and one of my arriba cases the zip failed and one of my lasers fell out the bag will be checking it in the morning fingers crossed pics tomorrow

I did that gig last night with the 86 songs to be played in that order :(

The night started badly , I arrived at the venue at 6:00pm , only to be told that the venue did not open until 7:30 , the time I was due to start , I drove round to the clients house to ask if there was any way I could get in , zero minutes setting up time is a bit tight :D .

There was an easy answer , they had decided to change venues , thanks for letting me in on this little secret , as luck would have it , the revised venue was a pub about a mile away , I have played there before , so I new the set up , well I thought I did , party and disco was in a Conservatory , one power point , opposite side of the room :Censored: .
Still all set up and running by 7:30 , started to go through the playlist , while trying not to look bored , by 10:00 only a few people dancing , so I had a quite word with the clients , they said , yes , play what you think is needed ,:D , thats better , loads more dancing , a very good time until at 11:03 ( I noticed that ) the laptop froze solid , no mouse no keyboard , the denon announced "goodbye daz" as it would when the laptop shuts down , now to switch off and reboot takes about a minute and a half , to me it was an eternity , got the usual " why are we waiting" and a few less complementary remarks , still all ok till the end , which was at 12:00 , ever had a round of applause , which was nice , so Everything un plugged , lights put away .cables in case , and then the usual " go on mate , play another one , no one will notice ":D , sorry but I laughed , some people.

I am now scrapping Ultramixer , and going for PCDJ dex , so by next week end I should be on track again.

My gig was a bit bizarre to be honest. I was doing a 50th Birthday gig (for a woman that doesn't look 40 to be honest!)...I was at a venue I had been at before although it was around 10 years ago.
What a lovely hall and it's stuck in a back street around 7 miles from my house. Absolutely brilliant stage, very big and very deep too. No sound limiters and allowed to use smoke - perfect!

I set the projector up on top of one of the JBL's and pointed it towards the wall behind me and it looked great. It also went down well with the guests.

Anyway...Got to the venue at 6.15pm and was set up by 7.00pm. Access was easy enough. I was set for a 7.30pm start easily. When it came to 7.30pm, there was NOBODY about!!!!?? 7.45pm and still no'one! At just before 8.00pm, the lady came in and within 30 minutes there were around 30 people there (120 invited). I played lots of different stuff but it was getting a very mediocre reaction. I lost count of the amount of times I mentioned requests over the microphone - I got one person ask me all night for a track!

The time went pretty quickly actually. They eventually all started getting into it at just gone 10.00pm and were dancing to the 70's Disco stuff and 80's classics. One of the songs of the night was 'Footloose' as it had almost everybody up. The one that got everyone up was 'Summer of '69'.

So, overall...one of those nights where the guests would rather natter or wait until they were fuelled up enough with booze that they had the nerves to get up and dance. When they did....it was great. When they didn't...it was boring so 7.30pm - 10.00pm...a little bit boring...after that - fine!

Good gig last night

Wedding for two police offers (same as hammy!) at Mitton Hall, near Clitheroe, 120 guests, first dance at 8- then packed floor till buffet at 9. Kicked off again at 10 with a full floor until 1am finish. Mostly 80's and 90's, played some cracking 90's dance, I love it when I can play lots of that! Really nice guests.

Only bad thing with this venue is the stupidly over sensitive sound limiter, it's not too bad now I am used to it, but it can still cath you out when you least expect it. It's only a small room, so I only take in a pair of RCF 310A's and I have to keep the bass at about 2 oclock on the mixer, which on 310A's is almost non existent!
