I didn't see him mate. I know there was some discussion between the DJ, father of the groom and the groom with the hotel manager keeping the peace, the outcome of which was the original guy clearing off. I don't know the circumstances.

That would depend on how his contract was worded.

Sometimes being late is unavoidable, however, there is absolutely no excuse for not taking emergency numbers and venue details so you can ring and keep people informed of the situation.

I guess you never know when circumstances beyond your control are going to trip you up.

*Luckily* I have avoided that scenario up to yet but I always make sure I have emergency contact numbers for the venue and the client with me just in case. I also have a routine worked out to get the music playing as quickly as possible before worrying about things like lighting and aesthetics.
