I hope it doesn't backfire on you Charlie, but you do need to start thinking about these sorts of things because one day it WILL backfire, and that will be one HELL of an expensive gig for you.

Got to agree - especially if they're plugging in their own iPod and it has low levels, your speakers may well be whacked up to maximum. Is it near enough to pop in and see hows it going?

Personally I'd never leave my equipment unattended like this.

As Angela has said, the legalities are already a cause for concern, and if I were doing something similar, it wouldn't be the frontline gear made available to them, it would be a cabled mic, and the Peavey cabs, not Mackie or RCF and a top grade Shure or Senny cordless. ;)

I think it's quite likely that by the time Charlie returns, a number of them will be 'merry'. It sounds like they have a lot of time to kill before the Disco starts so they will want to entertain themselves. I would be worried that they want more volume. Unless someone there knows the score with the Mackies and the old 12 o'clock thing, it could be dodgy.

Of course, it's all speculation....They may well be the most trustworthy people ever. I feel sorry for the speakers and the potential situation that Charlie has put them in.

For arguments sake - Charlie, what happens if you get there and something is knackered because it's been tampered with?

I was focusing on the 'community center part' to highlight the fact there isn't any separate rooms, sofa area for people to chill, bar area for people to chat or grounds for people to have a wonder. This kind of venue is fine for a nice meal, the speeches followed by a disco but to expect people to stay in the same room from 11.00am to 12.00am is a lot to ask. It's 13 hours!

Not really, they have legs I presume? They can go and do whatever they like. The way it came across to me (along with the grotty car park description) was that it was as if it wasn't good enough for you, let alone the guests.

A £1500 bar tab that was demolished in under 25 minutes, a playlist that requests no disco, no cheese, no ABBA, no dance music (but has the word "Keane" thereon), a 1am finish, and being 3/4 of the way through an hour of Andrea Bocelli leaves me somewhat apprehensive...
