Good Gig, Bad Gig.

Had a bad-ish gig tonight.

Got there at 4.40 for a 7pm start as I was only my own tonight. :(. I was not told the times so I guessed it was an early finish which would be 11-12. Nope it was 1am. At 12 mid night the room was nearly empty but the client that kept on playing at she paid for my time, which I did.

Good mixture of music and as I was running out of ideas on what to play I played some country and got the people back on the dance floor. Must of been about 40 people tops so a small gig for me.

I took my sub and had it on its own output and the bass is so much clearer now. I feel I have t much bass now. I was running the speakers at 12 oclock, channels at full and master at 1/4 and the sub was kicking but it was just asoub showing an input signal. :D:D:D:D:D

Anyway. Only to 5 lights tonight. 2x Marvled and 1x Impossible. I tryed some back wash behind me with 2 par cans and a controller. I think It looks really good. Nothing to flashy compared to others on here but I thought it did look quite nice. :)

Overall, ok gig but not enough dancing.

Good gig: Last night (Saturday) 60th birthday party, about 120 guests. They started dancing just after 8 and the floor had no less than 15 on the floor until I finished at 12. Really enjoyable.

Bad Gig: Friday night: 40th birthday party. They invited 150 guests, and 36 showed up (including 15 children aged between 3 & 14). No more than 4 on dancefloor at any one time. Adults weren't interested. Requests from kids only - T-Pain - 50 Cent - Flo Rida......aaaaggggghhhh!
Birthday boy came up to me at around 11.30 and said 'knock it on the head'.
Apologised for the guests, and gave me an extra £10.
What was odd, 3 people came up for cards and said thanks for a great night!

Although not busy, it was a really good night & I had lots of people dancing.

At the end of the night when the landlord was paying me he told me that lots of people had been telling him it was the best disco they'd had for a long time.

All I'd been doing was playing their requests for most of the night, but job done!

I'm probably missing something here, but I'm confused as to how you can take a booking where you don't know the finish time until you arrive at the gig?

I'm also wondering how you can quote for a gig when you have no idea whether the finish time is 10pm, 11pm, 12am, 1am, 2am of even later.

The inference is then, that they had not actually HAD a Disco for a long time! :p :D :D

Easy, set fee up to midnight and then £100 per hour(or part thereof beyond)

Well with this venue they already have a contracted agency but they said that the club can come direct to me. They always give me the infomation I need to know but for some reason they didnt give me the finish time, wonder why. :bang:

Because they dont have to lug the gear in and out or do the job they can quote any price they like, which is annoying on myside. But I do have a wedding next week and thats is big bucks and will be my most paid gig to date. :D
