I also think it does depend on the many things when it's in house services. If I was the wedding coordinator I'd like to think I'd be great and would be there on the day, available to talk all the time etc like I do now but if I'm getting paid very little and I'm not appreciated by my employer I would be off at 4.30 also. I certainly mean no offense to people who do an excellent job like the person you describe but in my experience they give their employers twice as much work for half the money. Day five, and now I'm really starting to flag.

Decent wedding last night that ended at 11pm. I may have even cried a tear if joy when I got into bed at midnight.

Day six consists of sitting in the sun until...yup, you're right - another wedding! Woo!

Definitely this. Like some hotel staff. They're on zero hour contracts, pulled from pillar to post & yet they're expected to be on point all the time & ask how high when any customer says 'jump'.
There's an argument that people should all be as committed to customer service no matter what, but we're all only human & can only take so much.

Nice - makes sense. Would prefer that and have a quiet Jan/Feb to recover.

I'm struggling to attract the mid-week bookings - something I need to try and turn around next year.

Wow. That's very good going Benny. I'm happy (ish) with my lot but then I've got kiddles & a day job. 4 weddings on consecutive days on top of those can take its toll. Any strategies for staying fresh you'd care to share with us?

Well, it's great and not so great at the same time. I shan't complain as it was me who said "Yeah, I'll do that!" to all the enquiries, but I will be putting a monthly cap from now on.

But in seriousness, there's nothing to tell I'm afraid. Just gotta soldier on and drink plenty of water. It's now become a thing for me that I have a can of Pepsi max in the van waiting for me for the drive home. I know that it sounds really pathetic, but it is something to look forward to and enjoy at the end of a gig. :daft:

I still find it really hard to unwind after a good (or terrible) gig. I'm often home & unloaded by 1am but can I just lie down & shut my eyes? :rolleyes:
