Great gig tonight and, to be honest, I really needed it.
Same venue as the one I was at last night, and it was very much a naughties indie and punk rock affair. Finished strongly at 1am and I'm now home getting excited about the fact that tomorrow's venue is just down the road from me.
'Cos my life is several kinds of terrific.
Awful gig last night. A wedding, playlisted to hell & excluded the tracks people were asking for most - i.e. the standards which were on no account to be played. Still, at least the bride had fun eh.

Got a great reception though. How very random.
And of course I was thanked for all my stirling efforts throughout the night by the b&g at the end..... Not.
Meh. A night off tonight. The band are bringing an MP3 player.

Decent wedding tonight at a venue that I hadn't worked at before. The bride wasn't pleased with the service she received from the venue (apparently the bride was shouted at by the venue owner, among other things) and started to tell me about it when I arrived, but it was mostly after takedown that she really went into detail.
I never experienced anything negative. The manager on the night was pleasant. Had to ask four times to get the background music turned off as it was still playing whilst I was playing my background music.
We arrived at 6:15 with a start time of 7:30. Got there a little early to do a quick hello to the venue and touch base. The room is already being turned around when we arrived, so we hauled ass. Setup by 7pm and just decided to go for it and press play.
Photographer was due to turn into a pumpkin at ten past 8. At least, I assume that was the case as he was very much clock watching. I upset him when I told him that I had the first dance down as 8:30. ;)
8pm rolls around, and we cut the cake and do the dance of the first variety (Black Keys), and off we go. Not that much enthusiasm for the dancefloor early on, so during the evening food I played the slower songs on their playlist with the volume down as they ate. Thought process was give 'em a break and then kick it up a notch in half hour. Explained my logic to the groom and he was chuffed anyway, so he's happy.
After the buffet, I kickstarted again and it was much healthier this time. Naughties RnB, Punk Rock, Indie and the like was the order of the night. Played some tunes I rarely get to play, so that was nice. One of the final songs was Limp Bizkit's Rollin' which the bride and groom wanted to have played, but decided that it wasn't appropriate for a wedding.
One word that doesn't describe me is appropriate. ;)
Played the song, and the roof went off. They loved it, and the B&G were delighted with the night, being very complimentary.
Had an unfortunate call this morning from a bride saying that tomorrow's wedding has been cancelled. So...paid day off!
