Not sure I can claim a win, but I had a wedding along similar lines. Bride said could I use the lovely bright lights on my website, so I took in an impressive show. I got set up, and entertained a few kiddies for a while, then a few adults had a dance. A couple of hours into the gig, and everybody left. There was a fabulous buffet virtually untouched, too.
Groom shook my hand, thanked me, and gave me a tip. It was an hour's drive from home, and I arrived home before the time I was supposed to finish the gig!:eek:
When the venue staff and I pieced together all the bits, it all made sense, and was simultaneously sad and joyous. :zip:
Taplins Place, Hartley Wintney.
Yeah, I really enjoy working there. It's nice and chilled out and I know the owners well.
Funny story here - I'd never heard of the place until 8 years ago when I was booked to do a wedding there for a David Backham and his bride Victoria.
The owner said to me "If you're any good I'll get some cards off you".
I just happened to have a brilliant crowd that night that were up for it from the first song and he came over within 30 minutes and asked for cards.
Since then he's recommended me and I do quite a few there each year. I don't think I have ever had a bad or even mediocre night there.
