Good Gig, Bad Gig.

Karaoke went down fantastic for the 1st hour then the comedian came on'All good stuff Then Time for the strippers x2 first one was not ott but the second one was well ott Baby lotion all over my kit and then she did something with one of my mikes :Censored: oh dear :eek: fair enough i thaught so i sent the roady to steal all her clothes including the ones she arrived in' At the end of the show i handed her a cloth to clean the lights with' She looked at me and told me to go forth' I tried the mike which she used and it was all distorted so i told her and she laughed'
she went to get changed and couldn't find her clothes' Eventually she came and asked us if we had seen them and we told her yeah but she would have to pay £50.00 for damages and to get them back.
She stood at the side of us for 15 mins and kept asking us[which we didn't mind] and then eventually she paid up' On the way out she called us a few names Although a great night was had by all

Had a great gig at a local(ish) village pub.
It was a 30th birthday bash and the 'theme' of the night was the Oscars/Red Carpet.
One of the birthday girls friends was doing a solo vocal spot so I lent her a microphone and hooked up her minidisc player into my rig. She was excellent and bought me a (soft) drink for letting her use my rig.

The night was initially slow as some of the guests were coming from Scarborough and it took them around 2 hours due to weather problems :eek: (usually about 45 mins).

After the singer had done her bit (finished around 9:30), I kicked the disco off and everyone dived onto the (smallish) dancefloor. It remained 'stacked' for the rest of the night. There must have been at least 30 people dancing at any one time, the best song of the night had to be 'We Go Together' from Grease.

I was due to finish at 12:15 but carried on for another 20 mins (after ok-ing it with the landlady) as I was having such a good time :) .

I have been promised lots of repeat business as the DJ who used to do a regular spot was retiring, he was actually there as he was friends with the birthday girl and he commented how good I was and was sure I would get regular bookings :D

A friend of the landlady came over and asked to book me for NYE 2009, she took a card and is going to call me this week, fingers crossed.

All in all, a fantastic night and a great crowd.

Sunday 23rd November 2008 - "Good Gig"

I had an interesting gig tonight.

I was booked at a venue to do a 60th birthday. I phoned up the client a few days ago to get some idea of music to be played. The client didnt take the call or phone back.

I then got a call from the venue saying that Mrs ****** has already booked another DJ when she said to book me.

Now what hacks me off is that she couldnt even take out 30 seconds of her life to phone me and say she has booked another dj. :mad:

Anyway. I got an email and a phone call from the venue asking if I could do a disco downstairs in the main hall as the race night was cancelled.

I said yes and agreed on the same price as I quoted the original client.



Well what a night. Must of been about 30 people max for a 400 people strong room. Was a bit shocked but was a good gig in the end.

Played 90% pop and chart music as there were quite a lot of kids and young teens there and 10% 80's. Played some stuff that I don't usually play like Sugerhill Gang and Cher to name a few. The music was well recieved.

Not much dancing but lots of foot tapping and singing along to the songs. In my books, thats a thumbs up. :)


Came to the end. One couple left and asked for some high school musical, which I played as their daughter was 6-7???

I also dedicated my last song to her which was 7 Thing by Miley Cirus which she loved. Her and her brother were rolling around all over the empty floor with her folks taking pictures and dancing also. Did make me smile. :)


All in all, strange but good gig. :)

We arrived at the address in some very thick fog, parked on the drive and made our presence know to the party hosts. Now this was my 6th party at this venue and to say the hosts were excited was an understatement especially the man of the house Geoff.

We got the gear in and got on with the job of trying to make the best of the space available and things worked out very well but I had to use two chairs to sit my speakers on due to the speaker stand legs causing a trip hazard.

Guests arrived and there was plenty of “Oh my goodness I have not seen you since 2003“ and “Wow if it‘s your disco we will have a great evening“ etc etc.

The brief we were given was 7:30pm - 8:30pm ambient music so people could chat. 8:30pm - 9:30pm buffet and then 9:30pm - 12midnight Party time.

There were two presentations made at 9:30pm one for Geoff for running the badminton club for 30 years and another to a lovely lady Mary who was celebrating her 60th.

I made a quick presentation myself then to a lady called Yvette for being the “Most excitable lady on the planet”

We then went straight into the main part of the evening with many songs from “Mamma Mia” and various other requests like T. Rex/Mud/Van Morrison etc etc it was a fantastic play list and the dance floor was always full.

Then it happened!!! Geoff’s wife Sheila asked for us to play “The Silly Stuff” which we did, and unleashed some of our trade mark party dances which the audience loved and tried their best to keep up with.

Time flew and we were into the final song - “New York New York” which saw everyone in a circle singing their hearts out.

The venue is a a members club. The club mention thay have dj's on there books who come recomended, me being one of them.

MCE Insurance, Crown Way, Rushden, Northants.

"Morning Madness" (10:00am - 12Noon)

After a journey of 1 hour I arrived at the headquarters of MCE Insurance for their children’s Christmas party.

I met up with on of the organisers (Karen) who showed me where to go and she also showed me how to get free coffee out of the machine!!!

Set up and checked and awaited the arrival of 30 very excited children and the good thing was their parents were all staying as well (Caching£££££££££)

The show got under way with a quick introduction and it turns out that a few of them had indeed seen my show before so we were soon having great fun with some very silly party dances and mucking about.

I threw in a very quick tongue twister game which had the mums laughing heartily,

I went into the final party dance before the break and it was at this time I encountered a lady called Selina who tried very hard with the routine but I am sorry to say she did not have the rhythm but she tried bless her and to make things even more astounding she started to unbutton her top!!!

Into the break and two things happened - 1) the children got their food and 2) I had to get some fresh air (god it was hot in the room)

Part two featured more of the same silliness and some balloon modelling and then after the closing speech the company MD stepped forward to get a big round of applause and a cheer for yours truly which was very nice.

I then introduced the man in red who took the children off to give them their presents and the morning was done.

Yes it was an early start loading the voyager at 7am but by god was it worth it.

8 cards went, plus a huge spring family day for the company so I am very happy with the day.

Just got back from a stupidly bad disco. First thig was my laptop messed up and was giving stupid feedback for no reason. It was a 50th Anniversery and they wanted mainly 60s playing so I got plenty of songs sorted. It started slow but eventually people started dancing etc but then I get told by the drunken husband who was celebrating to slow down the music which annoyed everyone else because they were wanting to dance. So the dance floor quickly went dead and people left the party early.

Then at the end of the night he complained because I had to turn the music off at 12 due to the pubs entertainment licence. I got so stressed with him I packed up and went as soon as I could
