Pleased to report my first ever Christmas party night went exceptionally well, crowd of 50 had a great time and the dance floor was packed for the whole night, from pretty much the word go.
Even got to test my Kam LED parbars - they are just what the doctor ordered. used them for a wash from the other side of the dance floor from me.
few issues at the start and the end of the night that put a bad taste on the evening.
Half my lighting rig stayed in the car, the setup area was tiny and ruled out front boxes, so i ended up using KAM led parbars, at one side of the hall then a soundlab 8 spot box at my end. Managed to fit the hazer in to disguise the fact there wasn't much of a lighting rig to speak of.
That was about it, no lasers, no intelligents, no space for the TBAR to hold them. i literally had myself, my speakers on stands and my roll in flightcase which contains mixer, cds players, amps, karaoke machine, voice effects box and radio mics.
At the end of the night i packed my gear away into the car. The bowling club where the event was held is down a very steep slope, so i was pushing my flightcase full of my equipment up this slope, when it hit a lip, and flipped wildy over onto its side with a loud thud. i swore very loudly, and righted it then managed to shove it in the car.
upshot of it is everything in the flightcase shifted out of alignment, recking a few rack bolts. and i've spent the last 45 mintues testing to make sure everything is working as intended.. only had a problem with the prosound AMP losing signal on one channel, quickly rectified by a reset.
All set to go again tomorrow,
