Hi Tom - the item in question was a LED PAR BAR from Kam - its deceased - it died 10 minutes into the event, no power nothing, fuse replaced, still no power - leads changed - still no power.
and the starcloth that appears to be faulty too,
guess who is driving through to where he purchased these in the morning.
on a more cheerie note, i got a £40 tip tonight, which made it almost worth the agony with the lights.
good crowd.
I had a very slow night to begin with a buffet was served and i had about 65 with ages ranging from 45 upwards so i played christmas music for just over an hour as it was requested by the manager.
once all the food was done they was sat chatting i was playing some good 80's and had 4 come to dance then go sit back down. i thought this was going to be a slow night. i changed the music to motown and boom dance floor full played only a few 60's tracks then mostly 80's again i loved it the music dare i say it was great and for 3hrs i never had time to stop every one dancing like crazy and the best part was watching this couple really going for it when i played brown sugar. managed to play 3 modern tracks at the end and would you beleive Basshunter jingle bells was requested ( i only bought this yesterday) finished with wham last christmas and got 3 confirmed bookings so in all i had a great night slow to begin but soon got going.
what i take from this is i need to read the dancefloor better than i do now as i am sure i could have had them up sooner.

Tom, I too am often surprised in exactly the same way as you have said. I wonder if sometimes they are trying to hang on to lost youth? I can cheerfully listen to music from the 20's to present, but I don't think I'd ever ask for Dance Music as a Genre/Style, I'd specify ones which took my fancy. Darren, since you said it has been around for a long time, I'll assume you meant Classic Dance, rather than this week's banging choons. That would be understandable, whereas if Tom got the impression that they wanted this weeks output, that would be more surprising. Of course, I could be wrong.
You will see this more than once young'un so get used to it.
i had a 60 year old come up and ask me for some Scooter a few weeks ago -
was a bit shocked to say the least.
Edit: Daz226, as a general rule, I try Motown very early. It often gives the older ones confidence, and can be very acceptable to the younger ones. It's a great intro to many other styles.Quote:
