I'd say the vibration is your problem.
I've had the same problem myself with numark players witout anti-shock.
Try some foam or polystyrene below your players or turn the volume/bass down.

Does your cd players have anti-shock?

I would put an ultimatum to the venue that if they can't book their own disco/band they won't be using the venue and find somewhere else more suitable. The venue won't want to lose the business.

I'd watch out for new seagate HDD's. The factory that makes them has shut down (about 10 miles from me) and all production has been moved to the far east somewhere to reduce costs.
