    Default Class D CD15ns and 12" tops.

Ive had a bit of experience with these now and id like to add my 2ps worth.

Ive now used the subs and tops and the tops by themselves and ive found the sound quality is superb with both.

I find the volume is reduced slightly by using the subs with the tops coming from the subs (using the built in crossovers) but im guessing this is due to the resistance change.

Ive also found that the supplied poles that the tops sit on from the subs do not sit properly and sit quite loosely. A bit of tape has sorted this though for the price i paid i wouldnt really have liked to do this!

In conclusion - the volume with just the tops are great. Ive used them with a 1300w WA amplifier and they filled a room of 100 people nicely.
The bass response from the tops are superb and the high end crystal clear even at large volumes.

Using them with the subs ,the sound quality is even better though the volume is reduced.

The build quality of carpet and wood are great though when i did receive my subs they had slight tear on the carpet and i never received any comeback from Class D when reported.
Also the subs are very heavy and i would strongly recommend help from a roadie/friend when moving these about. I would also suggest a larger vehicle when using these. Ive got a 55 escort van and these fit in there with the rest of my equipment nicely.
The tops are nice and light and 2 can be carried easily by one person witht eh supplied handles.
The subs are also supplied with handles.

I'd agree with most of that. As for the tilting poles, I've got to get the micrometer out, cos they're all like that.

I haven't done comparative volume tests with tops vs tops/subs. May have to try that.

And as for heavy, no way Jose!!!!!! The subs are light as a feather compared to most , especially John's Active RCF'S. and so are the tops, compared to my CD15SP's.

I found the same problem with ours running from subs to tops, but we now run ours from the tops to the subs (tops run at full range) and found the volume spot on.

Partly because that way lowers the impedance seen by your amp, thus making a bit more power available.

How do you use the built in crossovers when wired like this as i always though the crossover was built into the sub. If your only using the in port how does it use it?

What he's doing is wiring the cabs in parallel, thus two 8ohm cabs become one 4ohm cab, in effect. What the crossover in the sub does, is feed Low Frequency to the sub driver , and the High Frequency to the output of the sub cabinet, where it is not used, since there's no top connected. Unless you're Justin. We got him a similar system from Class D, and you can stick a top on the sub output as well, and run it all safely from one amp.

We prefer this way and the amp takes it pretty well but everyone has different ways of rigging them up, as peter says try it and see what you think.

I tried this way but found the amp clipped a lot easier
