We use an SMS system which is linked directly to the laptop.
Many a time we've had one to one conversations with the "punters"

SMS system is good...I can't imagine folk at posh doo's texting the DJ their request?
Perhaps I'm being stereotypical.
It depends on your definition of Posh... "lord of the manor", or simply high earners?
I'm sure most clients know how to use a mobile phone, and providing its not pushed too hard it could work really well.
Mobile phones have been out for a while now... Most of us will remember the "bricks" in the late 80's, so nearly 20 years ago. Some of your clients will have been texting before you were born Charlie!
I prefer to be approachable, and openly accept requests. I used to do the request sheets, but felt I they were becoming too demanding (people expecting me to play whatever they added)
I'd like to see how the mobile text system works for mobile guys. I've seen this in action in bars and roller rinks, where most requests will be for chart stuff.
Not sure how it would work with a very wide range in musical tastes.

It can also be a pain. we had it in a bar in southampton and people were asking for really stupid tracks and coming out with annoying comments. or asking for embarrassing tracks and pretending to be someone else.
even with the cards i had people asking for Beethoven and stupid tracks and telling me the music was crap etc. from little kids.

I find most of his tracks too longi had people asking for Beethoven
Sorry for the guys who use slips but I much rather use the mic and ask for requests that way.
