    Default Cheesy guaranteed floor fillers

    Help!

Last night was dreadful. I had a complete mind black all night, wasn't feeling up for it, just heard some bad news etc etc. The music was all over the place. Thank you to John and Dave for helping me out during the evening.

To avoid it happening again, I wondered whether any of you have a party playlist at hand or could post your top 5/10 floor fillers.

If I've got a list to refer to, I'll be fine.

The boss (who booked me) tuned up and not one person danced all evening. Made me look really bad.

Charlie, this is my list that I always go back to for inspiration. It excludes what is current right now because those tracks come and go but these remain so bear in mind to play a few current floor fillers too where appropriate,

It's in no particular order and if there are a few duffers or omissions I will of course be glad to hear.

I famously organised my hard drives into categories.

The one entitled "Party" usually provides inspiration.

Charlie, I recommend using a laptop running vdj.
All past playlists can be accessed for inspiration!

No such thing as guaranteed floor fillers Charlie, you should know this by now.

Look at your crowd, use your experience and your eyes to work out what people want. Some good mic work will help you with requests.

If your mind isn't in the right place your going to struggle no matter what IMO.

But surely its always handy to have a list of "Fail safes" ?
There will always be something on there you can use if you mind goes blank.

    Totally agree with that.
You can have all of the lists in the world but if the crowd aren't up for it, it doesn't matter what you play.
It is good to have something to look back on for inspiration, I'd agree with that but if nothing is working, what can you do?

Charlie, I am sure the manager or whoever was in charge has seen you before and with a decent crowd etc so I wouldn't worry about looking bad because at the end of the day, you can't make people dance. You could look at the dancefloor and see it's empty, look back at a list and see a track that has worked elsewhere before and try that and still have the same outcome.

It could also be the 'Midweek Syndrome' again.

Please tell me a song that you consider a "fail safe"?

I remember speaking to Simon P awhile ago on here and a song that works well for me at most events is Valerie however it clearly doesn't work nearly as well for him as it does for me.

Charlie has mentioned in his thread title "cheesy". Not everyone or in fact every group of guests want "cheesy".

My music like most on here is in different folders which is split into decade, genre and also "normal" or "popular" which helps when my brain fails me.
