Hi, my name's Sid I've been a D.J since the 70s (i'm 57 years old) Last year I sold my full time business and turned full time pro as a D.J. Something I always wanted to do but with bringing up kids etc, well you know the problems. So anyway I finally did it. As you can probably tell by my disco name I usually cater for the older generations. Theme nights 60s,70s,80s etc although many brides ask for older music these days. I also play all the modern music when asked. indi,dance and pop. When I turned pro I invested in a complete new rig of sound & light.I have been using lap top for many years. But now use powered speakers and digital decks (all so much lighter) and led lights. I travel all over the country although most of my work is around cheshire and shropshire. I have travelled to Leister,South Wales etc and have just taken on a gig in Southern Ireland. anyway enough about me. I look forward to reading all the stuff on this site after all your'e never too old to learn. Regards to everyone Sid.

Hi to a man of my era. I started in '74, gave up late '90's and have recently re-started.

You're right, there is a niche for the more mature DJ (nearly said old ) and the older music like old soul, motown etc.

I'm new here myself, and as I posted in my introduction thread i'm surprised at the amount of 'older' DJ's here. I guess the passion never leaves your soul.
