Default New Active PA... What to get... QSC, RCF, JBL Help please

    Firstly hello to all

Well as the title says im after buying some new Active PA Speakers to replace my old passive system.

    I'm after spending £1300 - £1800 ish

Im undecided weather or not to go for 12" and get a sub later if i need one or get 15" ones.

The 12s I'm looking at are....

    QSC K12
    JBL PRX612M
    Mackie SRM450v2
    RCF ART 422A / 712A / 722A
    EV ELX112P

The 15s I'm looking at are....

    EV ELX115P
    JBL PRX615M
    RCF ART 415A / 425A / 715A / 725A

So what are peoples experince with some of these speakers and which ones do you sware by.

Any help will be most helpful and my gigs are mostly 50-100 people.

    Dave

All are fantastic speakers and you really won't go wrong with any of 'em.

I own the JBL PRX612M and love them to bits.
Main points for my decision were:
    brand confidence
lightweight (even lighter than nearly all their plastic competitors!)
wooden construction (better sounding some would argue)
    Look awesome! lol

Many say the 15" version sounds better, but it all depends on how much space you can afford to transport 'em around.

Yeah I know the 15s hit nice and low...

and space is not a problem.

Im torn between the 15 Inch RCFs and JBLs and EVs I agree they are all great speakers and it comes down to personal pref. I would love to compare them all side by side but they is no DJ shops here in hull.

Do you think they would be much difference between the 715s and 725s? what made you go for the 715's ?

I went with the 715's over the 725's on recommendation from a forum member. If I recall correctly he thought that 725's (which have a larger voice coil) sounded a little harsher on the top end than the smaller voice coil ones (715), so I went with his recommendation. The fact that the 715's were a bit less expensive swayed the vote for me too.

That said, I've since bought a pair of RCF Art 525's, and (to my ears anyway) I can't hear any audible difference between the '15s and '25s.

Capital letter for ( Kingston Upon ) Hull please.

There may be no shops worthy of the name, but by heavens when Twinspin arrives, you'll be swamped with offers to hear just about any type of RCF cab available.

Listen before buying is imperative. The info you seek will doubtless be given here at some point.
Excalibur. Older than the average DJ.
