Hi, CD Pool, and no one really seems to care in my experience.
-
I mix at discos, but I also DJ in nightclubs as well. Whilst not essential to mix at discos, I think it makes going from one song to another sound a lot better and slicker.
I buy my music from CD Pool (Radio, Hits, Dance Hits CD's), Amazon, 7Digital, BeatPort, DJ Download.
Scott.

No body cares... until someone does it.
At least that's what I've found recently. The amount of couples (and guests) who have came up to me at the end and said that they weren't expecting a mobile DJ to mix has been overwhelming this year.
I often find those DJs that say it doesn't matter are the ones that cant do it...and to be honest, in this day and age with technology, everyone should be able to string some form of basic beatmixing together.
Its also worth baring in mind that the people (Ive found anyway) getting married were part of the late 90s, early 2000s dance music boom...and im getting a lot of house/dance/trance on playlists, and they grew up listening and clubbing to DJs who mixed correctly, so almost expect it.
That said, in a mobile situation mixing is a tool, not a rule.

Have to agree with the above post.
I don't mix every song at every event, but when playing dance music, both old and new, I try to beatmix where possible.
I find it keeps people on the dancefloor, as they don't use the gap between songs to go to the bar, or outside for a cigarette.

By far my preferred method
Although I have to say that with Virtual DJ even I can mix.

I mix music purely because I like to mix music. I very rarely use extended mixes as they sometimes just drag the song out a bit too much (depends on track).
