I have seen videos or recent performances by these bands and none of them are a good as the first time around... especially Bon Jovi.
So.... memories are better for me.
I did see Guns n Roses too.... but they weren't any good (even back then). Axl had a deep voice on stage!!
Gong - now that's a name to conjure up a few flashbacks.
Which particular Gong offshoot did you see?
Sure I've still got a copy of Camembert Electrique somewhere - cost 59p at the time.

I cannot compare to their earlier performances but I've seen a lot of old bands in the last few years which I like -
KISS - Absolutely Amazing
Slayer - Brilliant
Tom Jones - Very Good
Guns n Roses - Disappointing
Metallica - Good
Anthrax - Good
Motorhead - Good
Madness - OK

Flashbacks! Oh yes. It is fair to say that I transcended the mystical realms at their gig!
It was with Daevid Allen. Though not sure which off-shoot..
I still like listening to the earlier stuff with Pierre Moerlen. His drumming style is incredible on the album "You."
"Angel's Egg" is a cool album too.

It depends if they can pull it off.
Springsteen still amazes me live.
Bon Jovi on the other hand (who were my favourite band for eons) have totally lost my fandom over their slide into live mediocraty.
Speaking of hasbeens that shouldn't be allowed near a stage unless it's to bolt together trussing - My band played a festival that Dexy's were also billed on over the Summer and it was the most painful live gig I've ever seen.
Coincidentally, Nile Rogers and Chic were on the previous night and were so good it was frightening.

Saw Steve Hillage in a dance tent at WOMAD once (possibly Zero 7) - never seen a crowd manipulated by music so well before or since, amazing.

Saw Booker T & The MGs about ten years ago and they were fabulous.....so glad I got to see them perform before Duck Dunne sadly checked out. And Dr John was awesome live with just a three piece funk band behind him and Jools Holland on Hammond!
More recently, I supported De La Soul at O2 and they've still got what it takes to blow up a hip hop storm.

Back from the concert. Wow. Biggest downside is that the sound engineer should have the abominable line array system tied to his ankles and throw the whole lot into a certain North East river. The sound was awful.
The band however were superb. Not the band of forty years ago, but still brilliant. I rermember now why they were always regarded as a " feel good " band, cos that's how you feel two songs in. A joyous evening.

I've seen Rush multiple times over a period of almost 30 years, and I'd say they are better now than they've ever been
Musical 'class' doesn't diminish with age

Few Old School bands in these vids. All pretty good tbh.
The Iron Maiden one in the first vid was crap as there were far too many people and the sound kept cutting out. my girlfriend did not notice but it ruined it for me.

Can anyone tell me why you cant post two videos, even on a seperate post?
