Default Advice needed on installation PA system for restaurant

The Golf club we're I'm a member have asked if I could help out with some advice for them on a new install PA system in the club house.

Currently they have a very old 6 speaker system that covers a room that is approx 60ft x 25ft and it struggles with speeches so are looking to renew it.

I know nothing about install PA so open to suggestions. The criteria is for a system that can play CDs, ipod, usb and a mic output ideally 2.

Those criteria make an all-in-one solution tricky. Brace yourself. That one ticks all the boxes, but at a price.

Close but no cigar. Short one mic channel, and a tad lacking in other ways.

Very close. Actually, I think it ticks all the boxes. Two full mic channels ( Ch1 is mic/line. That one would switch between ipod and mic. ) accepts USB sticks, has one CD deck.

Easier if you use a live mixer and individual bits, but perhaps complicated.

Re the PA part, well how about six of these?

Food for thought, but by no means the definitive answer.

1 mic channel wouldn't be a problem with a dual radio mic system. I'm thinking you may be looking at speakers more the size of studio/monitors if they have 6 round the room at the moment is that correct? so they would be less obtrusive. If just used for mic and background and evenly distributed around the room then you only need lower power units. There's plenty of active studio monitors around that'll do the job. Or are they used for discos and live entertainment too?

Every restaurant i have seen uses a passive system with loads of small speakers covering all angles.
Get a half decent amp that can section off areas with simple to use buttons & 2 mic wireless system and your sorted.

RCF do a good line of smaller speaker for this use, but I would imagine QTX would suffice depending on budget.

JBL do very good kit in the "lots of small speakers" category. They could use 8 x 6" units for example. Usual advice is to avoid active speakers (especially if mounted near the ceiling) as the amps will generate heat and they'll be in the hottest part of the room (the top). This then means the amp can go somewhere cool (like a cellar?)

Thanks for all the help so far.

Seen these on Ebay and they seem to fit the speaker side of the criteria http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3314898014...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

As long as you get a 100v line amp to run them.

I would be tempted to get a kit.
Bet loads of pus are throwing out half decent sets at the moment as they are all going bust.

if you are not installing it PA professionals have all sorts of spares lying about and will fit it for you properly.
The last thing you want on the club captains night is it all to go Bang.

Running a load of speakers inline would not be a job I would take on. Have a look on Youtube it may be easier than I am imagining.

And it may not be. 100volt line kit isn't for amateurs.

Being a golf club, I'm assuming they want a quality setup? Also don't take on the install unless you have the relevant training in fire regs, HSE, and insurance etc.

Also 6 speakers for a room that size for speeches should more more than enough if setup properly in terms of room optimisation.
