I'm a sufferer of IBS and really have to be careful what I eat on disco days - and also have to have a 30 min side list ready for if it all goes wrong.
I do wonder what level of illness would make me call it.

Same here and that's why I don't eat anything after midday on the day I am working.
It runs (pardon the pun) in the family unfortunately.
Last summer someone twisted my arm with a bunch of notes to do their wedding at Southsea Castle on the day I returned from my holiday in Mallorca. Plane landed at 11am, got home by 2pm had to leave with loaded car by 4pm.
Had DJ Daryll on standbye just in case of delays etc.
Due to short time frame walked down the local for something to eat, left on time at 4pm.
All set up in a margue in the castle field with a band. During bands first set stomach started doing cement mixer impressions. Felt really rough.
During bands second set had to go outside and make a sizeable addition to the flower beds consisting mainly of carrots!
Managed to get through last set without too much talking, thankfully lots of dancing meant Groom & Groom were happy and good time had by all.
Never felt so ill while working.
I think I'm much the same, bit worrying really!
I did used to have an intermittent problem with nosebleeds a few years back when I had certain medication. which may sound minor compared but sometimes they would keep stopping and starting. When I was employed I had a manager laugh at me for using it as a reason to not come into work. What was worst is I'd been there 2 years and never called in sick once till then!

I try not to eat anything for at least 2 hours before any gig, and always avoid food & nibbles at the event. You never know how long it's been sitting, where or in what conditions.. or indeed who's been near it first.
I never touch the buffet, no matter what it is, how nice it looks and despite being told I am more than welcome hundred's of times. It's just not worth the risk. I may be starving but water and the odd polo here and there keeps me going.
Had a meeting last night with the Bride & Groom for an upcoming wedding (200+) and they are having Indian street food for their buffet. Some of it sounds amazing. They said I was more than welcome to have what I want on the night. I politely declined but joked about having a doggy bag and they said "No problem, we'll sort that".
Mmmm.....I can smell it now!
IBS looks like a common illness among DJ's then. Must be the stress.
Stress is a big factor in IBS, ive suffered since I started DJing in 2002, never suffered before that
