Exclamation 2021 Update to Back-End (plus feature drop / discounts).

I've just rolled out the back-end update to the directory side of the MDD at https://www.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/

To see it in action, you'll obviously need to have a DJ account and a listing (or create a new one).

The update doesn't touch on the front-end design which desperately needs a redesign - that's on my to-do list. It does have some improvements, though... region and county selections are grouped by country which makes it easier to find what you're looking for, and the final listings themselves have a much more search engine friendly URL, for example what was https://www.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/listing?id=3410 will now be indexed as https://www.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/view/3410/eastern/cambridgeshire/ely/imagine-wedding-party-entertainment

Account passwords were not migrated - you'll need to do a password reset on the email address you previously used.

There are also a few small feature additions: -

    • Card payments for listing upgrades, with instant activation.
    • Instagram can be added to listings.
    • DJ Mark IDs can be added to listings. This will display your DJ Mark award on your listing, and link to your needadisco.com profile.
    • Holders of DJ Mark Gold awards or higher will have a ranking boost applied to their listing when displayed on region / county / town list results.
    • Holders of DJ Mark Gold awards or higher also qualify for a 10% discount on purchased upgrades to their listing on MDD.
    • MDD Forum supporters will also have their upgrade discounts automatically applied.
    • QR Code generation (and download) for uploaded docs that are made public (once approved).

I have not thoroughly tested this, and I decided not to have a beta test on a staging URL, as I'm fairly confident that it's OK and any problems will be minor. That said, anyone that thoroughly tests it and reports back any errors (or not) might get a free upgrade to their listing as a token of appreciation

Well I managed to reset my password, and log in. Then I added my NaD number and got that verified. Not bad for an old bloke, I feel.

Well done Marc, and good idea linking to NaD.

Thanks. If a valid DJMark / NaD ID is entered validation should be immediate and painless. A quick thanks from me to Martin for his cooperation with the 2-way validation between MDD and DJMark.

BTW Peter if you change the email address on your login (not your listing contact email) to match that of your forum account, it'll automatically recognise you as a forum supporter, too.

... AND, if you go to NaD dashboard, scroll to the bottom section of the menu and the 'Memberships' option, you can add your MDD Supporter email. If this all checks out, you get a free additional postcode area on NaD. And a pretty badge on your public facing details page with a link to your MDD profile

Hopefully this initial link-up between NaD and MDD can be expanded upon in future as Marc and I have similar ideas about the types of members we would like to attract and how that plays out in the industry in general

I'm not touching anything else! It's working, and I have no idea what you just said there. However:
I may already have done something like that, because:

I've presumably done that, and I've now maxed out my areas on NaD, which is good as it gives me an area I worked in twice this month already, from other sources!

Computer illiterate doddering pensioners? Good luck with that, lads.

Seriously, this place has always promoted " best practice", and NaD with it's verification system is a natural companion. We all know that many things in this game are far from perfect, but to you both for your sterling efforts.

The email address used on your MDD forum (supporter) account is p***r@h******e.co.uk

The email address used on your directory account is p***r@e******************o.co.uk

Change one of them, to match the other. Easiest is probably https://www.mobilediscodirectory.co....r_settings.php

Once they match, the directory system will see that you're also a forum supporter and you'll get 20% discount. Together with the 10% discount from your DJ mark Gold+ award that will give you a whopping 28% discount off MDD listing upgrades

I am thinking of coding in a larger discount for MDD Mods, though, as a "thank-you"... but the priority was to roll out what we have now, for now.

    For consideration...

At the NaD side, you do get an MDD Supporter badge shown on your profile if you successfully link your forum account with your NaD account.

Using Wayne's as an example, from https://www.needadisco.com/profiles/19654.php: -

    Name: d2f3219e-eebe-418c-8e20-7cc19e639148.png
Views: 244
Size: 92.8 KB

This also links to your MDD Forum profile page, e.g. Wayne's is https://www.forum.mobilediscodirecto...mber.php?50610

Now, while we're agreed that MDD Directory and DJMark / NaD audiences are similar (public looking for your services), the forum is not so public-orientated and is more for DJs talking amongst themselves, sometimes away from the prying eyes of the public

In fact, if you're not logged in to the forum, the viewing of member profiles isn't allowed and so that link will give: -

    Name: please-login.jpg
Views: 241
Size: 51.0 KB

So, (Martin), I propose perhaps an option at the NaD end once MDD supporter status is confirmed: -

    1) Show MDD Supporter badge but only when logged in as the listing owner
    2) Show MDD Supporter badge to the public, but with no link (but perhaps an explanation "tooltip" or something similar)
    3) Show MDD Supporter badge to the public, with link to MDD Forum home page (https://www.forum.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/forum.php/)
    4) Show MDD Supporter badge to the public, with link to MDD Directory home page (https://www.forum.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/)
    5) Keep it as it is (public, with a link to the forum profile, which will ask Joe Public to log in)

Seems like the best option to me, although perhaps the member's profile page would be better, for example
    https://www.mobilediscodirectory.co....-entertainment

I'll look back through our emails to work out how to make that happen

On the NaD side, doing this is what makes the badge appear:

    Name: Screenshot 2021-12-08 at 10.24.59.png
Views: 260
Size: 30.1 KB

and also has the added benefit of doing this:

I thought that, too, but means they have to have a listing ID on the MDD Directory, and not just a forum account. Which I'm guessing wouldn't be an issue but you never know!

Just tried updating my listing but my log in details don't seem to match my forum one's. Anyway to reset them? Haven't got a clue what they would be.
    Nathan.
