Ok following the slight disappointment of the JBLs, One thing I did like was the way it looked.
So following a lot or research and talking to my resident 'Old Git' I plumped for the Maui 28.
I must in all fairness I need to confess that I have used these for three or four gigs now, because I will be brutally honest after the first gig I was not totally convinced I had done the correct thing.
Looking back I don't think I had really let them settle in and was instantly expecting them to blow my Yamaha's to bits which they didn't.
That said they are now officially my favorite speaker, I think they needed a little more adjustment than I first thought, The bass is definitely now on a lower setting on my Denon mixer.
The warmth of the sound is incredible, Yes they can be loud but even at lowish levels the sound is amazing.
Each sub is 22.8 kg and the satellites are 12.6 kg so not the lightest of things but not terrible. I have never seen a sub cabinet with so many handles, the only downfall being you can only fit your hand in one way. The Tops are split into two I would recommend getting the proper bags as they come with protection pieces which pop onto each piece.
Each Sub has a left and right input, two Thru inputs, a Sub out as well as Bluetooth input, There is a Main & Sub volume dial and that's about it, Simple and easy to use. I know there is a new 'Mixer' version but for a DJ I would say this works well.

I have loved my Yamaha's but these are a complete game changer and I look forward to a gig where I can really test them.

Mauis in general are overlooked IMHO and are very nice systems.
I run the 28 G2's and the 5 GO's. The 28's have become my main weapon of choice. I think the Evolves only went out twice last year, and my Yamaha combo didn't see the light of day
A word of warning though unless they've improved them, the satellite bags will eventually rip at the zips.

And in my humble opinion, the G3 range have really put them up a notch. I look forward to hearing Dave's speakers in a suitable venue.

I'm on my second pair of G2's. I retired the first pair after five years, which is my limit for sound gear. The second pair are performing just as good.
As regards the bags, I'm still using the original bags. The zips are fine but one or two of the handles have become slightly detached with the stitching taking a hammering. Nothing that a heavy duty sewing machine can't put right. And it just so happens, I know someone who has access to one.

I quite liked my Maui 28's, they sounded lovely. Sound quality wise i'd say just less than the RCF Evox/J8's and volume wise less too.
A few drawbacks for me were:
The way they are put together, those pins scare me, seemed a strange way to connect the speakers and eventually they will fall victim to something.
The sub used to get super hot. With no active cooling i had heard stories of them actually overheating and i used to point a fan at them just in case.
The lack of Pole between the sub and top isn't a major thing but i like to mount a light on my Evox.
As mentioned above the bag has a lot of weight to contend with and eventually the zips give way.
