If you pay BT by direct debit (as most people do) there is no "bank charge". I am now with Tesco anyway which is cheaper.

I'm with BT just because I'm too lazy to go through with all the hassle of switching, and a lot of broadband services require a BT landline, I believe.

I actually rarely use my landline phone, so it's really only the line rental I pay for

I use my cable landline, especially for calling my friend on her mobile in the USA.

I don't have to worry though...it's actually 33% cheaper than calling my Mum & Dad who live a few miles down the road from me!

    Strange - but true!

I would've thought that the blocking scenario described was monopolistic, anti-competitive and thus wholly illegal.

Are you referring to what Callum said? There is no evidence of that - I think he's just being paranoid! I hardly think a BT engineer is going to randomly disconnect you just to try to get you to change broadband provider!

I have no problem with BT - the level of service is fine, it should be....my MD works for them....
Uh..."You have been fined 99 bicycle clips, go directly to jail, do not collect 200 pounds... who's that naughty boy there?"
