Well here I am totally shattered, I've just finished a 21st for a lad with learning difficulties, and his college pals. I'm always worried about these ones, and this one ran true to form, in that as long as I kept the music coming, it was great. Of course I had no shortage of record collection inspectors, but the plus of this was since they had many of the same ones, eg Now series, they gave me requests at a fair old pace. They never really left the dance floor from record one, were very appreciative, and totally out for a good time.

Party games: I had loads of prizes to award, so we had pass the parcel, and win a prize if you're holding it when the music stops. All the dances, Agadoo, Superman, Music man, and Oops up etc, many of which were led( ? ) by the rapidly tiring DJ. At cake time, we sang the song, and then all hell broke loose! Nearly two hundred party poppers, half a dozen which looked like mortar shells, and then we played the Mummy game! You couldn't see the floor for paper and streamers! Fortunately for me, quite a few of the guests tired before I did, so switched off at 12.30, and home tired but happy.

Tonight was a mixture of good and bad for me. About an hour in, my Spinmaster 3 decided it would start smoking. Exactly like the other one did a few weeks before. I only had it for about 4 weeks, so I'm going to get my money back at craplins and get some chauvet/acme lights.

I started at 8, but it didn't get busy till about 9:30. Started with some top 40, moved on to r'n'b/hiphop, 90s then a mishmash of requests and ended the night with a few queen songs. Was an awesome night and cant wait for next Friday

I had an unusual one last night. The usual Friday pub res, it was empty & I mean empty. I've never seen it so quiet. Just familiar faces & nobody else.

Anyway the requests came in thick & fast even though you had room to swing a tiger, never mind a cat. The odd thing was it pretty much turned into a rock night, with amongst others being requested: Queen, Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, G'n'R, RATM, Blue Oyster Cult, the Cult, Audioslave, you get the picture. Here's where it gets odd, with the exception of Whole Lotta Rosie & (Don't Fear The) Reaper, none of the requests were for the usual suspects & people were dancing. People who I've never seen dance in 3 years of DJing the same venue. I don't know what was going on, but it was one hell of a night with only about 30 or so folks there. The other odd thing was a lot of the older stuff was being asked for by 18/19 year olds who weren't even born when most of it was released eg Sweet - Ballroom Blitz & Slade - Coz I Luv U.

    I don't care I enjoyed myself.

That reminds me of a couple of young lads that came up to chat to me at my gig last night. I think one was the birthday man's son & the other was his friend.

They couldn't have been more than about 10 or 11, and I asked what music they liked, expecting them to mention the current r&b stuff, but I was completely wrong.

They told me they were into Led Zep, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Iron Maiden etc!

Great gig tonight - totally up for it crowd after the first dance they didn't let up for well over an hour and the floor never fully emptied at all

And right near the end of the night I finally got to play one of my current favourites, at the brides behest: Finger Eleven 'Paralyzer'

I had a corporate party last night - a carnival theme complete with steel drums, fire juggler and balloon modeller.

It was a very laid back evening with most guests being in their 20s and 30s. I played quite a lot of dancey clubby stuff for a change and did a lot of mixing with that an also quite a lot of pop stuff too.

I am really starting to get back into mixing again. I even spent a few hours practising yesterday afternoon!

What a corker of a gig. It goes from bad to brilliant.

Got there only to find i was 2 hours early. lol. Should ofread paperwork correctly. Whoops. Anyway, so i phoned the client and said i was here outside the venue. About 15 mins later the birthday boy let me in and we started to setup. Got everything setup and the most inportant thing didnt work, the keyboard. So i had to spend the whole night using the small buttons to find the songs. . No idea what it was not working, worked earlier as i uploaded some more songs. Anyway.

Very very slow start. So i just played some chart stuff to start with then some 80's, but the stuff you like to listen to but not dance to. Then the buffet so i announced that and everybody rushed over. Same ol same ol.

After the food i played brown girl in the ring and got about 50% on the dance floor and kept most of them there all night, playing music from all over the place. Just to keep them on the floor really. Elvis - Blue Sued Shoes went down really well and got a few more people up. At this time i was "buzzing like a bee" as i like to put it and was dancing up behind the decks.

Just before the end i played build me up butter cup and finished with the old favourite Come on Eileen (cant spell that). That got the birthboy up dancing up at the back.

    What a great night.

Got to use the smoke machine (heavy fluid though )with 1 impossibled, 4 par cans and 2 scanner. Worked really well in the venue.

And to top it off i gave out 12 buisness cards which is my all time record. lol.

But the intresting thing was the client who booked me saw me do a halloween disco in 2007 and was impressed. She got my number from the veune. Bit strange the venue still have my number, even though i havent had any bookings from them since.

Anyway, that was a good gig for me. Thanks for reading.
