No now you come to mention it but to be honest they werent into the soul stuff anyway. They had a couple of requests that beat me. Dave Clark 5 "Glad All Over" and "Running Bear" by Johnny Preston.

You didn't have these songs? I think Running Bear is on just about every 60s compilation I've ever bought.

And as for Glad All Over, have you never done any football/rugby clubs functions before? It's up there in the same league as Hi Ho Silver Lining!

Seriously, though, as a self-styled Party DJ I'm used to all this cheese. Running Bear gets people (usually, fairly drunk people!) up dancing around like red indians making the stereotypical "Woo! Woo!" noises with hands on mouths! Definitely an "embarrassing parent/uncle/auntie" moment but it's all good fun!

And, for an extra twist, you could follow it with "Wig Wam Bam" (I prefer the Damien version but that's just a personal opinion)

Unlike the Beatles Dave Clark owned/owns all of his copyrights and they have not been commercially available since the sixties except for a brief three year period when he licenced them to Polydor for a compilation called 25 Thumping Great Hits. This was the first time they had ever appeared on cassette. It was circa 1979 and before CD's. To my knowledge Dave Clark's catalogue has never been commercially released on CD. All the hits were on EMI but they dont own the recordings - he does and just like KLF he will not permit them to be released. I cannot find any legal downloads either. Where did you obtain your copy?
As for performing at footbal/rugby clubs - what do you think?

Theo, your knowledge is as ever quite impressive, and doubtless accurate. Mr Clark is a very astute businessman and now I think promoter. Without going out to the music collection repository, I think I have this one. I didn't realise how fortunate I had been to acquire it! I think it cost me a fiver at my local CD emporium. It now appears to have a rarity value!

As for running bear, mine is on an Old Gold CD of hits from the 60's or suchlike. I have actually only had it requested a couple of times in many many years.

Thanks for the Amazon link. It would appear that it has been issued on CD in 1993 by EMI - but it most definately is not available to buy again now or legally download so far as I can see. Mybe I shall have to look around for a second hand copy.

I have Glad all Over on a 1997 Album (I bought in a petrol Station I believe in Leverstock Green) called Ready Steady Go! The Number 1 60s album released by ---Polygram with Dave Clark Internationals name on it as well!

It says the tracks are digitally remastered by Dave Clark.

Im told he didnt play on the record--but hes certainly an astute businessman.

The album "Glad All Over Again" is certainly a bit a rarity to the point that Amazon suggests that anyone who comes across it should snap it up straight away. This is Mastermix Classic Cuts 54 - Party and it's on there. I'm sure you'll be aware of the Classic Cuts series - maybe it's just one you missed. I'm also sure it's legal as I don't think Mastermix would take the risk of putting out dodgy material.

I also have the same brand compilations for the 70s and 80s. They've been a vital part of my music collection for the past few years.

As for playing sports clubs, they can be (a bit) boisterous functions but they like a good party and pay well so I don't see a problem with them. In fact, I do loads of christmas parties/presentation discos for a wide range of sports clubs and, in all these years, I've had one problem and it was from two gatecrashers. When I explained to the client I was being bothered they were swiftly removed from the building. Apart from that, no other problems.
