How did he get on with the sound limiter there?

Yeah fine. Doesn't play very loud and just backed off the bass a bit, fine all night.

Nice but... Blinders at eye level? Gah.
Also I like the fact my booth hides my lower half. Well actually most of me

I ment his mixing skills more than equipment, although that appeals to my taste too.

I also won't play the venue - backed off the bass a bit is quite an understatement! I had to have it virtually off.
And it cut out twice during the evening at virtually no volume at all. Was very disappointed and frustrated.
I've aired my views about sound limiters in another topic - but this too is a venue I won't touch.

We're gonna need a bigger boa... err PA
The last of the residency proms was last night. Oh boy. To quote a couple of students, I totally smashed it.
First of all the setup. Just the usual 2 altos & db 15" bin & my usual lighting. The venue was expecting 120 students & 30 teachers so split the dining into 2 rooms. Add a photobooth & leave to stew.
At disco time I was warming them up nicely with some recentish house music and then... They all had to go for a big group photo. Ok that done & the room up to half capacity I did my intro. Whipped em up nicely & got going proper. I'd planned a cheeky little thing to work at some point... The Super Mario theme I converted from a MIDI file in Ableton & put a stuffing big beat on... Whacked "put your hands up in the air" acapella over, air horns on top & played into Low by Flo Rida. Roof. Off!
Not many requests for stuff I hadn't heard of (not bad for a 43 yr old) but Whiney Houston & Kenny Loggins made an appearance as did Bryan Adams. Big singalonga cheesey moments.
A couple of mini genre sets later it was time for my awful minimix again. It. Took. The. Roof. Off. Utterly.
Before I knew it we had ten minutes left. Teenage Dirtbag played & I got the students to cheer their teachers, prom organisers & hotel staff separately and ended them with Wonderwall.. Their year song.
My right hand still hurts from all the fist bumps!
Oh yeah my PA.. It was creaking a bit in places. I need just a leetle bit more if I'm to do that again.

You should put those mixes up on Soundcloud so we can hear them!
