I'm a bit late with this one as I've had a mad few days moving but am now in the new place.
Friday for me was a wedding at a regular venue I do and it was my last booking for a couple of weeks. I was hoping it would be a good one so I could go into my break happy and I wasn't disappointed. I had such a lovely group of people who were up for it from the word go.
It may have been a lovely evening weather wise but it didn't stop them. Lots of requests and lots of good requests too so I was happy. I did have a bad back though and it was worrying me all day and I have to admit that for the first time......well, ever (I think?), I put a chair behind the decks and sat down every now and then.....well, I say every now and then but it was actually twice because it just didn't feel right.

Everything just went perfectly to be honest. Everything was on time and well....I can't say more than that. No quibbles, no idiots or anything, just very nice people.
First dance was Nathan Sykes & Ariana Grande - Over Again followed by a popular first dance from many years ago (not my favourite at all) Lonestar - Amazed.
After that it was full on chart, cheese and 70's and 80's.
The Bride & Groom couldn't decide on a last dance and asked for my advice. Obviously I didn't know if they'd like it or not but I suggested Take That - Never Forget and they said it was actually one of their favourites.
They'd requested Keane - Somewhere Only We Know as the as the penultimate song and I had shivers up my spine as everyone sang along. Every single person in the venue was on the dance floor and it was great. It was nothing compared to the last song as everyone got into it and sang along again.

It was a great night to finish before my break and move and I loved every minute of it despite the bad back which thankfully has eased up a lot now.

The only downside was a problem I'm having with Traktor at the moment. There is a known issue where the sound may become distorted after a period of time (MAC and Kontrol S8) meaning you have to perform a laptop reboot or change the latency once then back again. It only happened once during the night but is a bit exciting when it does.

Wouldnt you want to replace a system that needs rebooting every now and then?

Used to run Widows nothing but trouble,switched to Mac 5 years ago never ever had a problem,running serato perfect.

Isnt this to do with software--not hardware?

ie. Traktor program--makes we wonder about using my I pad with DJ Player pro--maybe it will only need rebooting once a night.

I still laugh every now and then--when I remember the DJ feedback I read--it gets embarrassing when the program crashes--people start booing

I've been using Traktor with a Windows laptop for over five years. Never had an issue.

If anything I used needed resetting or rebooting even once a night on a regular basis I'd definitely pension it off.

I've had my controller crash twice & my old laptop lock up once (but carry on playing music) since october 2014 ... All took around 30 seconds to work around while using my backup solution. But this is out of more than 150 gigs. I'd call it pretty reliable.

Another wedding last night & it was a busy one. Very very busy indeed. I was to be given the first dance on CD because it was a 'special mix' one of the B&G's friends had made. I was intrigued. Incidentally this week has seen no less than 8 emails from the hotel.

So then this first dance.. I prepared the track while playing out background music as guests filtered into the room. I gave it a pre-listen. Oh deary me. It started off with a romantic tune but 3/4 of the way through transmosgrified into... PUT A DONK ON IT. Well. This is one for the record books. I feared the worst but was proved wrong soon enough. What a way to kick start the party!

Dancing ensued from there til buffet time when I firmly backgrounded the music, then gave it 20 minutes or so. Cranked up the volume again, brought my lights up & off we went for 3 hours of rammed floor. It was amazing being so close to them all though I found to my annoyance people were trying to prop themselves up on my folding screen. Gah!

Blinking incredible.

The bar, I was told.. took over £2200. Not bad for a crowd of 115 considering some tables had evidence of contraband hidden away at the end of the night.
