Default CD Pool...What's that all about then????

I'm baffled with what this is all about. I've just looked on their website. Clicked on their special offer Dance Hits 2010 and I already have 95% of the tracks on there.

I checkout the charts fortnightly using Radio 1. Then download from Amazon the tracks I don't have I.E. Any new entries. If I want any spcialist new house music just go to Beatport or a million other places I know I can get it from.

Buy new hits weeks before their released. Why? Tracks no-one has heard yet won't go down well at a mobile disco. No matter how big they go on to become. They need radio airplay for that etc.

So what's the point? or am I missing the point?

I used to use them when i used to play in bars in the 90s, but as a mobile they are largely irrelevant for me.

However, our audiences are listening to Radio 1 and Music Tv, so i would like a place where we can get these releases, up front to play / test with our audiences, paticularly teen/18ths/21st

The other point is that most of these records can be obtained through dubious sources such as limewire which many of the audience as using to download their music for free, so they end up getting it before we do, as our ethics and quality requirements mean that we are limited to legal sources.

I reckon the majority of our clients and guests probably think this is how we source our music and think "Yeah right" when we tell them we purchase it legally

    I don't. Totally disagree.

Why on earth would they think a professional company does that?

most parties it don't really matter it's only when you do childrens and teen parties i find there is a problem, they request songs they are hearing on the radio that are not available to download(legally) and when you say that ,they say i have it do you want a copy

Probably a bit of grey area there Darren. Yes we buy it legally, cos we try promote professionalism in the mobile disco industry. £60.00 Sid no PLI/PAT probably not

Even legal downloads are a lot cheaper that the old way of having to buy singles each week.
I use DMC download which gives me piece of mind that I have all the popoular music that is released, however I do agree that they also add some useless tracks just to make up the list
